Not sure what to make of this one yet...
Aye...its something to keep an eye on. Cronyism is always tempting when a coach "makes it" and wants to bring their past with them to the highest levels of a professional sport, but ofton they would be better served by finding the most qualified person now available to them as the competitive standard has changed.
Its usually a bad sign as we have seen before in Chicago sports. Its a coach here, and another swedish players there, and there can be a comfort level, or it can work if they have exceptional perspective and ability to value old friends against the highest level of hockey in the world.
I think Q's voice was lost because the "Captain" lost the team for him as much as anything with the shit he has been going through and changing so severely as a person. He was a very very young captain because he was smart and he grew up and woke up at a deeper level than some of his teammates and like many of us, was not able to bring his peers with him to understand the dangers we are creating as a society.
I think they should give Kane the captaincy and Crow, and probably Lord Byram in a year or two.
