The interesting question would be, does Benji make it based on potential? A lot of neutral scouts had him better than Jordan.

Anyways, Yes, Rose. And I would hope Kevin Garnett counts. In all honesty, I don't know every great HS-on purebred-type basketball player out of Chicago.

Anthony Davis will have greater legacy than Rose.

But will he return as a pro? Something the others have on resume.

Question is flawed though, bc, if we're being technical, Wade played in the suburbs.

Mark Aguirre? He certainly belongs on the list for Chicago college basketball players.

The thread title leaves out that the OP wants it to be only HS, but he mentioned it.

However, it seems the criteria isn't HS career, but post HS career for those who played HS in the city, is that right?

Or do the burbs count?

Thomas makes it, but Quinn Buckner doesn't?

And made his name after HS.
Full Disclosure: I grew up with Dwyane Wade. So my recollection of him is probably much different than yours. To be honest, @FirstTimer would be able to give the best description here, but Wade was an all-stater and a Mr. Basketball finalist. That he wasn't a McDonald's All-American shouldn't be a knock against him.

But by the way, myself, and some of the old heads I talk to are disgusted that Ronnie Fields isn't getting more. Short of that car accident that destroyed his neck, Ronnie Fields would have been the best player to ever come out of this state. Without question.

I have Benji above Ronnie Fields based on pure potential and skill. IMO Benji could have challenged Jordan for GOAT if he came close to his potential. I definitely did not forget Fields and think he is worthy, but he was also the beneficiary of the hype world that started to take hold that made any man-among-boys amateur player into the next Harold Mino.... Nike campaign.
