Hawks acquired Oduya from Dallas for Mark McNeill and a conditional draft pick.

His reaction:

For the price, I don't mind the Hawks seeing if Oduya can recapture his 2015 form. Heard he hasn't been playing as well in Dallas, but I don't think that team has been well-known for a high quality defensive system. If he can get close to his performance level in Chicago, the Hawks are going to own the West.

Solid deal for some solid depth. He has been battling an ankle injury but hopefully he is good to go. Blackhawks defense is going to look pretty good if/when it all comes together.

Oduya never wanted to leave Chicago but his hand was forced once Daley was acquired. He waited as long as he could and was willing to take less, a good amount less than people were even guessing. Hopefully he can find his form and maybe even stick around for another year or two.

Plus the Stars are retaining half of Oduya's salary, which makes this deal look better. McNeill probably wasn't ever going to find a roster spot in Chicago if he hadn't already.

Times like these you remember the love songs written about a man... and realize the awkwardness of a CSN quick decision to fire a person when they realized videos like this existed

Exactly. As I said in the other thread--If you don't think this trade is a win, you're a loser. Oduya's easily the 4th on this team, and sometimes the 3rd depending on how Keith and Seabs play in the back end.
