Now I have 3 episodes of Chernobyl on my DVR, I know it's going to be good, but is it good enough to override the inevitable depression?

The vibes I get from people it’s a snooze fest.

So what's the verdict on Chernobyl? Worth it or?

It's not as good as it could or should have been. If you don't know much about Chernobyl, it's worth a watch. If you do know a fair bit, it has a lot of exposition. It is not an action show.

I don't think it is a snooze fest like zombie is saying. Others complain that it is a British cast playing Soviets, which is kind of a dumb grievance. Seems to be taking an obvious anti-nuclear power stance, which I find somewhat misinformed, and too easy.

There are better places to get info about Chernobyl, and there are better dramas. I'll watch it out, because it was an important happening. But it could have been a lot better.

I was 29 when it happened so I'm very familiar with what went down. I know the show is also focusing on the official denials and attempts to down play the scope of the disaster. Soviet denials were commonplace, there was a series a few years ago about covering up a serial killer rather than trying to catch him. Trying to save face taking precedence over fixing a problem was and still is their MO.

If I was born in 1986 I would watch this, but I know story so I think I'll pass.

Agreed. I'm watching it because I am fascinated by the history of that time in the Soviet Union, and see some parallels to the west today.

Although a better source for the history of that time is a book like Everything Was Forever, Until It Was No More: The Last Soviet Generation

The 4th episde of Chernobyl was hard to watch at times.

If you have a hard time watching those Sarah Mclachlan animal cruelty commercials, you may want to avoid.

I actually decided to start Deadwood before @MarylandBear111 made his thread. I’m halfway through season 1 at this point.

8/10

Very appreciated to Amazon for making this happen, but six episodes was a little light. Eight would have done it right IMO. There was not enough screen time devoted to The Them and Adam or the Four Horsemen.

That aside, the script was spot on and casting was superb. Especially Crowely and Shagwell.

Started season 2 of Ozark. A few episodes in and the storyline feels rushed to me.

Just started Barry. It's pretty decent so far.

I take back my rating of Chernobyl. In the end it was a pretty good show. Hard to watch at times, but nowhere near as bad as people are making it seem. There are far more difficult shows out there to watch.

'What If' is a must watch. Incredible show. Gave me an Ozark/How To Get Away With Murder vibe.

Hell Kitchen is pretty good, Swamp Thing is pretty damn good but sad it got cancelled. Krypton is good as well.
