This makes no sense whatsoever.

And gambling on baseball is the one thing that can ruin the sport. Not drugs. Not greenies. Not booze. Gambling on the sport by people in the sport is the one thing that can bring the game to its knees. Nothing else comes close.

People say this but is there a single instance where it happened and the sport die? I mean even with boxing which notorious for fixing the sport is still around. It has declined in popularity but i think that's more because they went to a PPV model and never had fights on tv for a younger generation to see and their viewers quite literally started dying off where as with the NFL you can see it weekly on TV.

No. Because Landis acted decisively and came down hard. And it is the lifetime ban that saved the game. Were it not for that, more guys like Rose would gamble, and the game would suffer.

That is why I can not understand how anyone can support lifting the ban against Rose.
