It is what I expect. I would rather they trade him for someone around 5 million and let another team buy him out. That would mean taking on money, so it never seemed like a viable option.
We have Korver's trade exception to absorb 5M if we wanted to...key phrase "if we wanted to"

If you look at Ray Allen and the role he plays with the Heat you see why Rip isn't worth keeping, at any price. Allen sees that he's not the player he was 10 years ago. In limited minutes, he can shoot very well and keep the ball moving on offense, not much of a factor on defense. Part of his skill set now is when he's playing against much younger players who don't pay attention on defense, Ray can get open if he's patient. Rip still thinks he can start, score 18 a game and be a force. You can't wait for him to get in his head that if he were a part timer off the bench, ran off screens and played defense for 8-10 minutes a half, against the bench players of the other team that are just looking for their shots, he would be valuable to a winning team.

I also think Rip should be the last former Piston we ever sign. Went great with Rodman and Salley, OK with Edwards, but Ben Wallace was a disaster and Rip was injured more than he played. Let's find a new source.

Agreed on no more former Pistons. Perhaps former Pistons are to Paxson what former Cleveland Indians are to Ken Williams.

Rip and Bogans were punishment from God to the city of Chicago for disrespecting his second son Ben.
