Welp, Portland at Columbus this year.. would have been much better for the league for New York to make it though

LA has been in the finals the past three or so years so I don't think its too big a issue.

I think a bigger factor and more beneficial factor would be a decent channel and time slot for these teams in the final.

Why? Wouldn't you want the most rabid fanbases to be represented in the finals for guarenteed ratings?

I'll admit Columbus is a bit weak, but to say Portland is "small market" when it comes to soccer is like saying Green Bay is a small gridiron market.

IMHO the only miscarriage of all of this is that a match won't be held in Portland. The below link (#16) says why.

Still, if Dallas was any indication there will be plenty of Timbers Army in attendance, as well as a few theaters here in PDX taken over for viewing parties. We did it for Dallas. :)
