At least for now. He was the starter in the AAA All-Star game if that means anything. There was a time that he was a top pick by Texas and part of the elite "DVD" prospect trio for the Rangers. The other two were John Danks and Edinson Volquez.

He starts Tuesday, who knows how many starts he will get. I'm guessing just until they get Zambrano stretched out.

Here are Diamond's stats

8.6 K/9 is good, and so is 104 Ks in 108 1/3 innings.

He deserves it. At least Zambrano didn't get the spot.

Zambrano probably will though eventually, unless he gets traded or keeps sucking in the bullpen.

I wish Jay Jackson would have gotten a chance and I also wish they would send Cashner down to AAA to stretch out again.

Jackson hasn't been great as of late. Ever since they moved him to the bullpen roll for about a week or two, he hasn't been the same.

But yeah, I feel the same about Cashner.

He's a flyball pitcher with a bit of a high walk rate. His K/9 is 8.73 so I would say he's a strikeout guy, but not an insane one.

Been rebuilding my NL-only fantasy team for next year ever since Tulowitzki and Utley went down simultaneously with Victorino and Werth both getting hurt, too...and Manny has been on the DL all season, basically...My team totally underachieved...

But I got Chris B. Young, Dan Uggla, Jonathan Sanchez, and Josh Johnson for DIRT CHEAP to keep for next year while unloading Tulo, Werth, Victorino, Marmol, and Dempster (none of which I could keep).

Since I'm tanking for next year, I picked up Diamond. Two start week for him (Tuesday-Sunday). Hopefully I catch lightning in a bottle and he pitches well, and everyone in my league (7/10 are Cub fans) will trade high on him for 2011. :)

Always nice to see a rookie get a quality start, especially when we needed the innings eaten.

I'd love to see Diamond stick around and pitch out of the bullpen next season.
