UPDATE:

With the Seahawks beating the Chiefs, here’s the update.

5. Seahawks (9-6)

6. Vikings (8-6-1)

7. Eagles (8-7)

Seattle will get either the 5-seed or 6-seed, as they hold the tiebreak with the Eagles.
Vikings can get the 5-seed, 6-seed or be out.
The best the Eagles can get is the 6-seed.

SIMPLIFIED:

-The only way the Bears play the Seahawks is if the Seahawks lose next week to the Cardinals AND the Bears lose to the Vikings.

-The only way the Bears play the Eagles is if the Eagles beat the Redskins AND the Bears beat the Vikings.

-Every other combo sticks the Bears with the Vikings.

VISUALIZED:

Bears play the Seahawks with a:

Seahawks loss (vs Cardinals)
AND
Vikings win (vs Bears)

No other combo would result in the Seahawks as the 6-seed.

Bears play the Vikings with a:

Vikings loss (vs Bears)
AND
Eagles loss (vs Redskins)

OR

Vikings win (vs Bears)
AND
Seahawks win (vs Cardinals)

Bears play the Eagles with a:

Vikings loss (vs Bears)
AND
Eagles win (vs Redskins)

No other combo would result in the Eagles getting the 6-seed.

It will be Vikings most likely. If the Bears rest players it will be Seattle. Arizona is tanking so Seattle will get at least 1 win.

There's a really easy way to do this

Seattle wins tonight, they're #5; #6 is either Vikings (win next week or Philly lose) or Eagles (Vikings lose, Eagles win)

If Seattle loses, then there is how it goes

Week 17
Seattle/Minnesota win: Minnesota 5, Seattle 6
Seattle/Philly win, Minnesota loses: Seattle 5, Philadelphia 6
Seattle loses, Minnesota/Philly win: Minnesota 5, Philadelphia 6
Seattle loses, Minnesota win, Philly loss: Minnesota 5, Seattle 6
Seattle loses, Philly wins, Minnesota loses: Philadelphia 5, Minnesota 6
Seattle, Philly, Minnesota lose: Minnesota 5, Seattle 6

2nd seed is still an option if we win against the Vikings so no chance we rest healthy starters..

Agreed. The Bears were never going to rest starters in Minnesota if they beat the 49ers, as we knew the 2-seed would then be in play Week 17 no matter what.

Interesting so if Seattle loses this game tonight we aren’t playing the Vikings in the playoffs. Unless of course Seattle or Philly lose next week which is highly unlikely looking at their opponents.

Unless the NFL flexes the Bears vs Vikings game and we know the outcome of the Rams game prior to Bears vs Vikings game.

The reason you play to beat the Vikings is that you don't want to face a team in consecutive weeks. One of the advantages of the playoffs is having to figure out how to play against teams and scout tendencies and you lose a lot of that if a team just gets to face you back to back weeks, even if you get home field.

I fully expect the Vikings to win easily (TD+) and the board/city to freak out

EDIT - this fully assumes the Seahawks win tonight. If they lose, and you know the Vikings can't fall to 6 if you let them win, you definitely rest everyone and come out for the playoffs playing a different team and not risking injury.

What would we be flexed to? the rams are playing a 3:00 game. Would we be flexed to the night game? that would be great if thats what they did. Or would it also be a 3:00 game?

It's really not that complicated.

It’s almost a formality at this point that Titans/Colts gets flexed, as the winner goes to the playoffs and the loser goes home no matter what else happens in the NFL stratosphere.

Pretty sure titans vs Colts gets flexed since it’s basically a playoff game (win and you’re in). Hopefully they move our game to 3 though, so if the rams start blowing out the 49ers we can rest people.

Assuming KC wins, my guess for the games would be

12
2 AFC East (doesn't matter)
2 NFC South (doesn't matter)
Dallas @ NY (doesn't matter)
Oakland @ KC (doesn't matter)
Cincy @ Pitt
Indy @ Ten
Jac @ Hou

3PM
Chi @ Minn
Ari @ Sea
SF @ LA
Wash @ Philly
LAC @ Den (would make early but they don't play noon in the MST/PST)

7PM
Clev @ Balt (Baltimore will have to win to get division assuming Pitt beats Cincy)

Yeah I would be shocked if it wasn't that game.

We should be moved to 3:25 time slot because I think the NFL wouldn't want the Rams to have an unfair advantage of knowing if they will need to play starters or not.

The Bears will probably be flexed to the 3 PM game so they can play along side the Rams game. Makes the game meaningful.
