I've been banned for no reason the last couple years for this, but no more.

As the IHNer's will remember, I am a big advocate of watching the IIHF U20 WJC that usually runs from the day after Christmas through the first week of January.

Well... here we are...

The 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship begins on 12/26/18 and is being held in Vancouver, BC. That being said, we won't have stupid early ass games like when it's hosted in Europe.

Let me tell you... this is SERIOUSLY the best hockey tournament in the world. This is better than the Olympics. This is the future of the NHL playing on the brightest stage they've ever seen.

JACK HUGHES

Team USA has the most exciting player in the tournament in Jack Hughes. Hughes is especially important to Hawks fans since the Hawks have a legit chance to select # 1 overall in the 2019 entry draft.

GET PUMPED and I will keep this thread updated with stats and other relevant info.

I'm hoping to catch some Team Finland games they are loaded. I know they have a couple of draft able Defencemen and Kappo who I really like.

USA got a tough draw being with Sweden and Finland in group B.

As for Hawks prospects:

Finland: Joker, Nordegren(out with head injury)
Canada: Mitchell, Entwistle
USA: Barrett
Czech Republic: Galvas
Sweden: Boqvist
Swiss: Kurashev

These are ones I know off top of my head. Feel free to add any more. Also Barrett was slotted as 1C over Hughes in the US vs Russia game

I wouldn't put too much stock into the pre-competition games. If Hughes isnt 1C when the real games start, IDK wtf USA is doing.

Hell YEAH BROTHER!

:hawkbang:

Sounds like USA is running the same top line that they did in the U18 tournament:

Farabee - Hughes - Wahlstrom

Wahlstrom is going to be a fucking star.

Watch out for Samuelsson and K'Andre Miller on the blue line... both of those guys are gonna be great.

Interested to watch Dmitri Samorukov on Russia this afternoon. He's like a bigger version of Duncan Keith. May not get in on the scoring as much as Keith used to but similar styles.

USA beats Kazakhstan 8-2 last night.

Huge game tonight Sweden vs. USA. Both are a perfect 2-0-0-0 with 6 points. Need a regulation win here if you're USA and you clinch a spot in the elimination round.
