On the drive....
Mrs. Parkey: "Honey, you missed another exit.... Thats 11 already since we left Chicago."
Clangin' Cody: *points and looks up* "Yeah but i didn't try to miss it. Besides, thats not who i am, and you're still gonna give it up after i miss the next one. Its guaranteed."

Parkey seems like a nice family guy.

He’s a bad kicker. I don’t want him on this team.

And I don’t buy this national media narrative that’s popped up about how I should feel sorry for him. I don’t. I just don’t. He’s bad at his job, and what should happen to him is what should happen to anyone who’s bad at their job—He should be fired.

I’m not going to be made to feel bad about thinking that way.

Bears fans booed him afterward. They booed him. They didn’t throw batteries at him. They didn’t slash his tires. They booed him.

Guess what? He deserves to be booed.

What was the point of this media appearance? To gain sympathy? If so, fuck off.

All the meatballs want to talk **** about Parkey and be angry *****s about the miss but I think people are just mad jelly that they don't have a smokeshow wife and millions in the b0nk.
I bet millionaire Bears fans with smokeshow wives, like Ashton Kutcher, are displeased with Parkey too.

Drove 25 hours straight from Chicago to Tucson in a 2002 cavalier. Only stopped to piss and get gas. Sucked lolol

Rockford to Phoenix, slept 5 hours, packed up my apartment, drove back. I love driving and road trips. But this was not fun. Went straight through like you too.

New Mexico is the worst. Took like 10 hours just to get through it and the scenery is just nothing

Same for me in the mid 00s, but in a Dodge Intrepid.

Every summer, I’d drive home to Chicago from school in Tucson, then back in the fall. Sucked big time. New Mexico is the worst because you have to drive through it like 3 times before you can actually leave, because of the route the interstate takes.

It's a bad idea to do a media tour after blowing our season, it's not going to endear him to the fans. Nothing he says or does at this point will redeem him. I respect him for taking the blame like a man and not hiding from the media, but whoever told him to do this interview was mistaken imo.
That's an interesting question... if he should give an interview?

I really don't think he's going on 'a media tour', and I'm pretty sure Today Show only covers some costs. And it's not like he's trying to get facetime to launch an acting career.

I think he's just showing he's a real human being going through a disappointing situation, some people are curious about it, because most people can empathize... the guy missed a game winning FG... people go through disappointments. Showing he's a real person, he's also deflating people trying to unempathetically use him as a scapegoat punching bag. Nagy rushing 180lbs Gabe up the middle on a 2pt conversion lost the game too. Plenty to spread around.

It's a tough one, but I don't think it helped Bartman to not do interviews. Probably encouraged people to scapegoat.

Still, there's no way Parkey's back with the Bears next year.

Ok Codey is who he is probably a nice fella does not curse religious, family man all that warm fuzzy stuff which is nice. Now he has mental issues as a kicker or confidence issues whatever you want to call it he has it. He does not mention anything about getting any help with his head or kicking that is what is bothering me. I think he has to go and we need someone in hear with some stones to get the job done. A few misses here and there are acceptable but what he did this year is criminal.

Shame he couldn't hit a pole on his drive down to Florida.

I have a question, does your job define who you are? I'd say no because it's a means to take care of what really defines you, such as your family or your religion. Sure, it must be a top priority but it certainly isn't what defines you. Cody right now sucks as a kicker in the NFL, but his family loves him and by all accounts he's a great guy, and to him thats what matters most. No personal hate to him from me.

That's really not the issue though. The issue is that he missed 57 fucking kicks this season and directly cost us multiple games

No they are though because they refuse to separate Parkey the football player and Parkey the human being.

Yeah I'm not one of those people sending him mean social media messages, I don't advocate anyone do that. But frankly I think this team is doing him a disservice by not quickly cutting ties with him. I think it's safe to say he's burned all his bridges in this city. No point in keeping him here and prolonging his (and our) suffering.

My guess is the locker room is done with him and while publicly supportive they are pissed, this today show makes it even worse. Kickers are a different dynamic in a locker room and ones who miss are not well liked or respected.

Plus, that kick cost everyone in the room money.
