This is kind of weird. Not sure why the defensive staff of all people are getting shaken up. That said getting a Ryan will be very popular in Chicago and he has to be seen as an upgrade, at least on paper.

Someone mentioned this already, but I'll echo it: the Ryan brothers are about their own self-promotion. It is completely opposite from what Nagy is establishing.

They are colorful personalities but too outspoken to be part of a Nagy staff.

Both the Ryans are blowhards that wear out their welcome everywhere they go. Not sure I want to see that circus in Chicago.

Yep, although V. Fangio is allowing Elway to pick his staff as reported. Have to think though that Fangio is allowed input on the D staff.

According to Hub on his most recent PFW show, Munchak was initially offered the Broncos HC spot.
But when Elway wanted a say in his staff, Mike turned it down. Take it FWIW.

Never much cared for Rob as DC but as an asst that doesn't get a mic? Sure.

Wasn't he the DC when the Saints defense was fucking atrocious?

On the flip side he was the LB coach during the Patriots early SB wins.

Maybe as a coordinator or a hc but as a position coach you are just one step away from ball boy. What is there really to promote? Those two won’t be looked at anymore as hc candidates

Pagano and Ryan on the same staff? Seems like a drastic difference in personalties. Would Ryan even listen to Pagano? What about defensive philosophy?

Implosion potential HIGH....

Ok. Read that he worked with pagano for two years in Oakland, so they do know each other...

You don't think Nagy and Fangio were different personalities?

Having different styles of coaching can be a good thing. Not every personality can effectively reach everyone. As a position coach, this could be a great hire...

Buddy Ryan was a terrific defensive coach.

Rex Ryan is/was a terrific defensive coach.

Rob Ryan and a good defense have never been together in the same place. He is horrible.

Rob may seem like a lunatic on the sideline but he's actually a very bright well spoken individual, I'd give him a chance Bear fans.
