Football scoops is reporting a rumor that the Bears may be pursuing Ted Monachino as a LB coach. He has worked with Pagano before in Indy as DC and Baltimore as a LB coach when Pagano was the DC.

Depending on how much of an impact the safeties coach had on Eddie Jackson’s development, that could be a big loss

Pagano has a history of getting the most out of his safeties and cornerbacks.

I think he likes mentoring them sorta like Lovie did with safeties

His resume is extensive as a DC, with many years LB and DL position coach.

Also noted this article... Sounds likely.

Do not worry about DBs w/Pagano. It will be a tight unit.

Agree... Pagano is actually a very good fit in that respect and the DB's will learn from his experience. I am excited to have him as DC. Loved Fangio, but this is great.

Not if Reed is his replacement...

As if its some sort of guarantee Ed Reed can coach worth a shit? Someone want to dig up Buddy Ryan's corpse and prop him up on the sideline for the meatballs while we are at it?

We'll get right on that 2nd one.

As for Reed...pretty sure if Pagano brings him in, he's confident Reed can coach...

My guess would be that -if- Reed is brought in then he would be more like an assistant to the assistant coach. Reed does not have a lot of coaching experience but he does have some and is getting more this weekend. So, I could see him as the assistant DB coach who works with safeties. Someone else will be the full DB coach.
