How would you even measure this? I guess you could do a poll if the sample size was sufficient to get an accurate representation across fanbases for all the teams. If there was a way to measure this empirically, I think it would be hard for a baseball player to win since fans would be split across two teams.

I know this is a Bears message board so there should be a bias towards Bears players. But, what if there was a city or statewide poll to all Chicago sports fans given a multiple choice answer format.

Who is your favorite Chicago athlete?

Khalil Mack
Patrick Kane
Antony Rizzo

Who do you think would win.

I understand a lot of these fans may be fair-weathered but they still watch games and buy merchandise like fans from every other city.

  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
Funny, being that every other Chicago sports team has won at least one Championship since the shitty Bears did.

The Chicago Fire won the MLS Cup in 1998, so this checks out.

The only correct answer is Akiem Hicks by the way.

Kane has won more, I would go with Patrick.

It should be Kane or Mack, but I don't think there has been a clear favorite since MVP year Rose. I have a hard time thinking it would be anyone out of baseball

Rose was never the consensus favorite.

Not really. Sox only have about 7 fans.

So Bryce Harper's a big deal, huh? This is the best of what baseball can produce in the aftermath of its steroid age? Probably a good time to stop testing for steroids.

I posted this because I was listening to some talking head on Sirius and he said Bryce Harper would instantly become Chicago fans favorite athlete. The shiny new toy will always be popular like Mack last year but would Bryce instantly be the local fan favorite?

It's impossible, since one entire fanbase would hate him

It's always a good time to stop watching baseball.
