Lol...looks like its the ccs loser club posting in here. You do you....

Nice job resorting to MORE personal attacks when you can't even back up your initial personal attacks. Losing move IMO.

Maybe try being an actual productive part of the conversation instead of being an Ex Lions fan calling REAL Bear fans Packer fans next time. Okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

Thats great and all, but 5 million per year?! that is the stupid part of the signing, not the fact that we signed him.

5 million per year for 400 yards, 5 TDs, and 30 yard per kick return average is actually a nice value.

What do you think 5 million gets you on the open market?

Bears are paying Patterson the same annual salary as Mark Ingram got.

Bears overpaid.

He won't get those numbers as a bear, nor is that his career averages.

Well you can either spread the wealth between gimmick and role players that may or may not contribute for example pace first three years of fa minus hicks and trevathen. Or take the 5 mil from player a and 5 mil from player b and sign someone that will take us over the top

Honestly who cares about KR the vast majority are touchbacks and it’s getting phased out of the league. His other value is gimmick plays I guess? Can sort of be a rb sometimes?

The fact they could have signed another legit rb like Ingram or Coleman for the same price proves how dumb this is.

I would have definitely taken Coleman over a gimmick wr/rb/kr.

Coleman over Davis is the real comparison and at that there is no comparison. I think the Bears are eyeing a RB in the draft.

I just think it is overpaying for a gimmick. That is my opinion.

He's not just a gimmick, he also fills a backup role at both WR and RB and saves a roster spot for someone else.

I like the signing. He provides depth at multiple positions while being able to start as a KR. He improves the bottom of the roster at RB and WR as he is a better WR than White, and a better KR and RB than Mizzell.

Davis/Patterson > Cunningham/Mizzell
Patterson > White

We may not have improved leaps and bounds with this move, but we definitely improved.

I like it. To have this kind of versatile weapon as your 5th WR is a good get.

I feel a lot better about this signing after I saw Patterson's 2018 highlights.

Nagy was running Gabriel and Miller on those outside quick rushes...
those poor guys were getting hurt. Nagy obviously loves those plays, and Patterson was made for them. He's a big strong player who is actually still fast, and fights intensely hard for every yard.

His KR is just an extra plus.

But he doesn't have that average at all unless you factor in yards and TDs for kick and punt return.

As a receiver, 8 years: 234 yards, 1.25 TD average

oh wait rushing:

85 yards 0.875 Td average

oh wait return:

659.5 yards 0.875 TD average

This guy is not a splash signing in the sense that he is a legit return threat but not a consistent offensive threat. While Pace may indeed have paid market value, that doesn't mean it was a "value" get looking at other needs like secondary.

As Rory said, Belichik used CP wisely by having him at the LOS and giving fits to opposing defenses and he still only managed 21 catches for 247 yards and 3 TD while getting 228 yards and 1 TD on gimmicky running plays and before anyone crows about his offensive production in NE as worth 5 mil, keep in mind two things:

1) In order to be effective, Belichik ran CP 2.8 times per game only.

2) Belichik let CP move on.
