5 million per year for 400 yards, 5 TDs, and 30 yard per kick return average is actually a nice value.
What do you think 5 million gets you on the open market?
But he doesn't have that average at all unless you factor in yards and TDs for kick and punt return.
As a receiver, 8 years: 234 yards, 1.25 TD average
oh wait rushing:
85 yards 0.875 Td average
oh wait return:
659.5 yards 0.875 TD average
This guy is not a splash signing in the sense that he is a legit return threat but not a consistent offensive threat. While Pace may indeed have paid market value, that doesn't mean it was a "value" get looking at other needs like secondary.
As Rory said, Belichik used CP wisely by having him at the LOS and giving fits to opposing defenses and he still only managed 21 catches for 247 yards and 3 TD while getting 228 yards and 1 TD on gimmicky running plays and
before anyone crows about his offensive production in NE as worth 5 mil, keep in mind two things:
1) In order to be effective, Belichik ran CP 2.8 times per game only.
2) Belichik let CP move on.
