The only thing i really got from this thread is that Rory doesnt believe the Bears are a "destination team"

Its common sense that there are a lot of players that want to play here. Even as a fan you can tell how much fun the players are having.

No state income tax in Nevada. If anyone has a destination vibe moving forward it's going to be the Raiders. Keep 4.63% of your paycheck, you're 4 hours from the beach in Cali and its motherfucking Las Vegas!

No state income tax in FL either, and you're right on the beach in Miami...and they landed Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Yeah...cause players like to hangout where they work in the offseason lol

They don’t? I did not know that. Not saying your wrong just sort of seems like a blanket statement. How do you know?

Was it possible for the Bears to sign Bell at the salary that he got without destroying the team in the future?

Yes it was actually. 2 years and 26 million does not destroy the team in the future.

Having said that, you are getting pulled into the Rortex. He is just being purposefully obtuse.

NFL players in Vegas? Yeah expect a fuck ton of legal issues and suspensions. Probably a dead hooker or two in the trunk as well.

According to Taylor Gabriel's Instagram story, he is working out with Mitch Trubisky, Javon Wims and Allen Robinson in Huntington Beach, California. Trubisky is getting a head start on working with the timing and chemistry with his receivers.

Rapoport is a dummy. But he's not wrong in this case.

Yup, just like the stopped clock, he got this one right.

All NFL teams are not equally appealing to FA's. Very recently Chicago was not viewed as a great place to play, it is now. I think Cleveland is trending in that direction, I think Cincinnati could be headed in the wrong direction.

What team isn't a destination for free agents?

Buffalo.

Sounds like something remydat would say.

The idea is 100% accurate, so yes, something Remy would say.

I think the players around the league can smell the winner, and this teams arrow is pointing straight up. Guys like Skrine or Dix, will sign here for less money, because they know that with this front 7, they will look much better. On the other hand, guys who benefited from the pass rush like Callahan and Amos, were probably both overpaid for what they can bring to their new teams.

Ian Rapoport was on Bernstein and McKnight last week [March 14th] and was talking about Chicago,

-Chicago is a destination for free agents

-Players are very high on the culture

-Players love the vibe of Nagy and Pace

-They have a reputation in the league of being straight shooters and of looking after there players

-Offered Callahan a really good contract at the end of the season, the Bears did not feel they could continue to wait on Callahan to decide

Obviously not for Field Goal kickers..........

HA HA is using Chicago as a Hub, not a destination. That whole " he signed with Chicago for less" story is taken out of context.

if the Skin's offered him 2 years @ 9 mil, 5 guaranteed and he chose to sign with Chicago for 1 yr @ 3.5 mil, then yes he signed for significantly less money to play in Chicago, but it totally ignores the reason as to why he did that.

Being a destination spot is more about bringing in older guys who have a year or two left in them and want to compete for the Superbowl before hanging it up. It's not a bad thing though, you can potentially get an okay starter for very cheap, or good depth for below market value. You could also attract players on 1 year prove it deals easier since being surrounded by other good players helps hide their flaws better (HCD?). What it won't do is attract star players in their prime. 95% of the time they will follow the money.

And we should let them...

We have all had this discussion before.

1) Taxes play into it. 2 mil at one place may be less than 1.75 mil at another.
2) Players want to win and just like all of us prefer to be in a good work place. Taking less money for it is an option. I dont think it would be a significant amount though but refer to #1 also.
3) All players are not the same. Stop lumping them all together its just dumb to think all are the same.
