He's not going to be the closer. It's Santos or Thorton. I think Santos is the choice that causes the least disturbance and has the best upside. Sale remains in the pen as a 7th inning guy

Ok.. So what you're saying is. The best setup man in baseball will be moved to the closer role possibly. Our closer will be a guy who's only pitched one full season in the big leagues, with hiccups when handed the opportunity to do so. So the dude with the 2.35 ERA and the .154 BA against in the 9th is better suited to pitch in the 7th? This makes a lot of sense to me.

Santos 5.14 .310 BA against in the 9th. I've got to tell you, you've sold me.

How's this for a "sale" then. Bobby Jenks did it in 2005. It's the least disruptive to all involved and offers the least risk while giving the highest reward. Sale fails as a closer, he could be a head case for life. Too much of a risk.

Bobby Jenks had also pitched his entire life. Also had a 99+ fastball, and a hammer that made hitters look like complete morons.
