If you don't think Castro has a better future over Alexei...then ***** you dumb as fuck.

Not completley true. Are the chances good for Starlin? Yes. But to bluntly state that is a bit pre mature. Lets see this kid a few more seasons before we start making these assine comparisons yeah?

I did meet him and he might do something he might not, but Alexei is doing something. Castro has a better future possibly because he has farther to go

I guess I dont get the love affair with this deal. He is already 29 and would not be eligible for FA until 2014 at the earliest. At which point he will be 33.

I dont know just seems like a lot of risk for the 2014-2015 years. Paying 21.5 million those two years seems like a lot for an aging SS.

Because if we are honest he's the best SS in the AL and that's the going rate.

Well being the best SS in the AL isnt all that important. The AL is very weak at SS.

Regardless he has had one good season, I don't think that's a reason to extend him til he is 34 when you are already getting him til he is 32.

Do you have a link that he was locked thru the 2014 season? I thought he was free after this season.

Agree taht the AL is under performing right now. He's still a top 5 SS though I believe.

Well he would have been arbitration eligible after 2011 So 2012,2013 and 2014 would have been his arbitration years. So basically the White Sox signed him through that plus one more year plus one option year.

So lets say Ramirez is worth going forward

2011: 4 wins
2012: 3.5 wins
2013: 3 wins
2014: 2.5 wins

Using some fairly simple regression due to age. So using 4 million or so a win at FA cost

So figuring a simple 40/60/80% of value in arbitration I show those last three years should have been around 5.6M/7.2M/8M. Alexei was paid 5/7/9.5. So its a pretty fair deal, I just wouldn't have done it because now its guaranteed where as without the contract if Alexei completely fell apart he could have been non-tendered.

**Not saying he will fall apart just saying its possible, its possible for any player to fall apart.

 no, just no. Dont sit here and start projecting future WAR, let alone using WAR as your arguement to begin with.

Oh no, we have a player that will be 34 at the end of his career, god forbid.

What? Did you even read me post? How else would you like to evaluate the trade?

I guess we could use he Dewey/CO rating scale. If my GM did it it's great! If the other teams did it sucks!

It's a fair deal for both sides it's certainly nit a steal by any means for the white sox.

Im not like CO, he predicts things with no substance.

I am not going to debate a player based on WAR, let alone predicting what his WAR is going to be in 2014.

He already has done something though. A .300 batting average (no matter how dumb of a stat CO says it is) is something.

Being a 300 hitter means nothing.

How so? You can bat .300 in a season and have done nothing that season, with a sufficient number of AB's?

You could hit 300 and be one of the least productive hitters in baseball.

I.e. Juan Pierre

How? If you only hit singles all season, or if you NEVER walk?

I edited after you quoted me but Juan Pierre is the epitomy of a worthless 300 hitter.

OK, but Castro wasn't worthless last season and did do a loot... you know what I'm saying.
