    Buster Olney....

*The Cubs are telling teams that Sean Marshall is going no where and will be put in no such trade.

*The Cubs will eventually convey interest in Kerry Wood and let him decided if he wants to go and where.

Both make a lot of sense to me. I don't think Kerry is going anywhere unless he wants to, and it seems unlikely that he is going to. It is nice to see a guy that is this devoted to the team. I just wish he could fix the starting pitching problem we have, but that ship sailed many years ago.*

I am wondering if the Cubs are considering Marshall as a closer and quietly seeing what they can get Marmol. Marshall doesn't have the typical closer stuff, but he has been real effective for several years now as a reliever. Either way the bullpen is one of the few bright spots on this team even if Marmol drives you crazy sometimes.

*Thanks again Dusty for pitching Wood and Prior into the ground in 2003.**

**Yes I realize that it was more than Dusty that eventually made Wood a reliever, but still him averaging the most pitchers per start in one of the only years he was healthy didn't help matters.

    Peter Gammons....

*Even tho the Cubs don't have to trade Marmol, they should look into it. The best trade partners are the Rangers and the Yankees. The Cubs could get top 3 prospects for Marmol.

*The Braves need a righty OF bat and thought of Byrd. Maybe an option.

*No teams have interest in either Zambrano or Soriano.

I wouldn't mind moving Byrd in the right deal. I've thought that the team would be best to open up two OF spots to let Colvin sink or swim in the big leagues, and get Brett Jackson a cup of coffee in September. Not terribly surprising that no one is calling for either with Z on the DL.

The Tom Gorzelanny trade has been brought up and people think it was a hugh mistake (me being one). Def with all the injuries to the pitching staff. Here's the players the Cubs acquried and what their doin'.

OF Michael Burgess (Daytona High A)-Doing absolutely shit.
RHP A.J. Morris (Daytona High A)-No stats for '11, injured?
LHP Graham Hicks (Peoria Chiefs)-Not impressive stats but still only 21. However, I still don't think of anything out of him.

In my own opinion, I think the Cubs trade Gorzo for nothing. Just to get rid of him.

The Cubs sign RHP to a minor league deal. He'll report to Triple A.

We can't use this thread because the franchise hasn't done shit in the last 103 years. Or over the trade deadline for that matter.
