New Kickoff Rule is Stupid

I hate the new kickoff rule. It takes game changers like Devin Hester and Josh Cribbs out of the game, diminishing their value. There needs to be an immediate change.

It really is a farce. In the first week in preseason in 2010 there were 26 touchbacks, in the first week of this preseason there were 44.

To make matters worse, teams are not enforcing their regular season touchback rules because they want to evaluate their special teams units. Players are running kicks out of the end zone that would usually be a touchback in the regular season.

Kickoffs are going to morph from one of the most exciting plays in the game to the most boring.
