I believe the allegations... It just doens't really affect the Bears in any way so I don't really care about it.
Renegade Miami football booster spells out illicit benefits to players - Investigations - Yahoo! SportsA stable that features multiple elite players such as Wilfork, Beason, Andre Johnson, Devin Hester, Kellen Winslow Jr., Antrel Rolle and many more – including at least 12 players currently on the Hurricanes roster.
I'm sure most of you have heard about this already, but its not cool to see Hester was involved. Obviously he won't really face any consequences since he's a pro, but interesting nonetheless. He denied it yesterday, and had no comment today. Thoughts?
Johnny Knox, you will be missed

I don't blame any of those players for doing what 99% of us would do in the same situation.
Don't know about Hester's background, but there are a ton of players that Miami recruited from desperately poor backgrounds ... and if you give them the opportunity to live that kind of life, what do you think they're going to do?
Don't know how many of you saw ESPN's 30 for 30 documentary on The U, but it was basically the same story, just a decade earlier.

What Derrick Rose did was much worse.
LOL at him denying it. Whatever. Add "lying" to his vast list of transgressions.

ya it was...anywho this shouldnt affect hester in any way except maybe a little bit of his dignity
but he's in the pros now..nothing you can really do
thats part of the issue with these violations always coming up like 10 years later...the players cant be penalized
All major players in college football get under the table things.
Did any of the U players know that money was from a Ponzi scheme? Or did they have any involvement in that? Just curious, didn't notice that part in the story.
@_DaveMelton
Rose needed to cheat on the SAT to get in to a school anywhere...it wasn't done specifically to get into Memphis.
Cheating on the SAT is serious, but IMO the Hester stuff is worse because it happened over the course of years, and it wasn't necessary. It was necessary for Rose to cheat on his SAT to play college bball. Whats worse...a guy who shoots a deer to feed his starving family, or a guy who shoots a deer for the sport of it?
The players taking the money regardless of where it came from would bring the same implications. The guy could be raising it running bible camps and the same consequences would be handed down so the Ponzi Scheme thing is irrelevant.
As far as that "Booster", fuck that guy. Just wants media attention. I'm sure everything is true but, it's happening at EVERY single NCAA school guaranteed.
Ah yes, the U of Miami, where South Florida criminals go to play college football. LOL
ya accepting stuff from a booster as an athlete is bad(not going to argue that at all)...but it happens all the time...and quite a few ahtletes wouldnt pass up free booster gifts, cash, etc.
you can argue its the player's fault for accepting(of course it partly is), but alot of the blame is on the schools for providing such benefits
idk wtf "Ponzi Scheme Money" is....can someone fill me in?
