I don't think anyone knows whether something will or won't happen until the parties in question come out with officially official statements.

Is he willing to embrace coming to a Cubs team that doesn't spend money because they're cheap and wanna call it rebuilding? Just in case that's what happens...ya know.

Don't know one way or the other on what we are doing..

I'd assume if there would be an offer made.. Ricketts will allow for spending.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Toledo Rockets
Why would he want to go to the Cubs? Red Sox aren't going to fire him, besides he has more money to play with, better scouts to scout with and less pressure with the Red Sox.

Mostly ego. I agree that the Red Sox probably won't fire him. But I don't think the either/or has been ruled out so we'll just have to see.

Didn't he just get a new contract from the Red Sox?

I'm not sure. I had heard his contract expires in 2012 so I'm thinking he's still under contract. Might have to Wiki that one.

Pressure is the same.

Cubs to finally win = Sawx beating Yankees.

It's pretty much even for the most part.

And the Cubs haven't won the WS in 103 years. He faces a huge challenge. If he succeeds, he would basically be the new Abe Froman. The new sausage king of Chicago.

This is the only possible reason Epstein would want to come to the Cubs. If he ended the curse of both Boston and Chicago, he basically becomes a hall of fame executive. If he fails in Chicago it isn't like another team wouldn't hire him. That said only Ricketts and Epstein can answer whether or not he is going to be the Cubs GM.
