John Paul Morosi tweeted it, but I'm typing an article on the new Fire signing right now, so I'm not gonna search for it again haha.

cool
But as far as 2013, you can define it as a success or failure by whether we make the postseason, and ultimately whether we win the World Series.

Yesssssss.
Curious what final totals be. Whatever it is il be happy my all time favorite player is back Cubbies
Any word on the money off the deal?
Looks like we will get Woody back. That's good. I just got the DVD with his 20 K game I need to watch.
awww yeaaa
Really happy to see this. I will gladly acknowledge that my happiness is solely wrapped up in the memories of Kerry Wood I have at this point than the likely performance of a solid reliever, but it still makes me happy to see him remain with the team. I don't think it is a terrible thing to have him in the pen to make Marmol more easily replaced with Marshall being dealt, and to be a mentor to young guys like Carpenter.
Notes from Muskat...
1/12 Wood, Cubs still talking

They just announced it at convetion as expected
3 mil with Club option for 2013
Cubs Re-Sign Kerry Wood |
The Cubs have re-signed reliever Kerry Wood to a 1 year 3 million deal with a club option for 2013. The Cubs announced the deal at the Cubs convention which started today. I love the signing and I am happy Woody will pitch for the Cubs in 2012 and hopefully longer. Many think the Cubs have had a deal in place for a while and just wanted to announce the deal at the Cubs convention. That would seem logical and make a boom at the start of the convention.
Lately the thought was the Cubs and Wood were not going to reach a deal and Woody’s tenure would be over. Like Kaplan stated a few days ago, it seems Kerry Wood’s days as a Cub are all but over. Kerry Wood did have interest in other teams and said he was ready to take the physical for 2 other teams today. He said the signing came down to the wire and agreed to the deal this afternoon.
Team Theo has said all off-season, if we can’t sign Kerry Wood, there is something wrong and we are doing something wrong. Tom Rickett is a big Kerry Wood fan and wants Kerry Wood to finish his career with the Cubs and then become a coach when he retires.
Like I’ve already said, I’m happy Kerry Wood is back in Cubbie Blue and can’t wait for him to pitch in the 7th-8th inning as the set-up man for closer Carlos Marmol.
Right now, the 40-man roster stands at 41 and a corresponding move will have to be made. So… the Kerry Wood signing is not official yet. But don’t worry, it will be.
Welcome back, #34!

If this is true and it took thus long to settle with a "no brainer" I just gotta say best of luck when it's someone that matters

Actually KW was just interviewed on CSN.. They had preliminary "chit-chat" like I wanna come back etc..
They actually just started negotiating within a day or two of the convention and it took 15 mins and he was back.
So no doom and gloom and a lot of pre-emptive striking from the media as usual.
Oh come on, he didn't say best signing since 1917. This is one of Theo's best signings for the Cubs considering there hasn't been that many signings. I'm not doing backflips over any other free agent we've gotten so far. This season is gonna be awful so a "for the fans" signing is one small thing to look forward to.
