I disagree.
you know what you have with most of the lineup. will Dunn be as bad? I doubt it. PK is PK etc etc. First time managers would love to have a team like this with potential. Most get a shitbox pirates team.

There are alot of question marks on this team, so he has a point.
He did nothing in the off-season to try to improve this team.
you are essentially re tooling on the fly. why pay CQ who is injury prone when you have viciedo. Closers come a dime a dozen (if you use a RHP as a closer and not a LHP, ozzie!) MB had to go, he was ozzies boy and with the way that the press is following last years team, there was a divided clubhouse.
He's a big (scouts deserve the other half) reason why the farm system is a fucking joke.
Question marks all around except for PK and maybe Alexei...Question marks in the rotation except for Danks and Floyd...hoping Humber improves. So far we're pretty mediocre.
KW got rid of Ozzie and all his BS..but has only added by trading away.
He is rebuilding.
Its been a pretty bad off season but after last year how worse can it be, really?
"Re-tooling on the fly", a term I am getting sick of hearing it's a huge cop out, an excuse being used by Kenny Williams to keep his job. How the hell do you "re-tool on the fly" when you're spending a ton of dough on worthless contracts like Dunn's, meanwhile, a pitcher like Buehrle is being shown the door?
I won't disagree with the decision to not spend a ton of money on any closers. Too easy to homegrow a closer these days and its not like there was any sense in breaking the bank for who was available anyways. But if you're hanging hopes on Rios to miraculously start playing like he did during his contract year in Toronto...or Viciedo actually does anything...then you be extremely disappointed my friend.
We have way too much money invested in bums. Guys who were good at some point in time but extreme garbage now.
Its essentially the same team minus Pierre, Buehrle, Quentin and Santos.
Its not like we have zero talent on the team.

Kenny Williams is a fucking moron and I refuse to root for the Sox until he is fired! He is a travesty. Fire him and he can take Teahen and Dunn with him! What kind of a fucking moron trades a good young closer when their team has been searching high and low for one the entire season and then signs him to a new contract only to trade him
great post! way to think it through. By the way mark teahen was traded last year to the blue jays as a salary dump.
yay! another guy who is hot for closers and relief pitchers! yay!sergio santos is replaceable!
And yet CNM looks stupid again for his hand clap response.
I can't believe how people are ready to write off the season already. If everyone plays to career norms Sox will be in the thick of it.
A lot of things went wrong last year.

I'd like to go to a game again, but why bother when it's going to be a sub-par product?
Some of his trades have come back to bite him in the ass.
If they finish behind the Royals, then it's time for Rick Hahn to be the new GM.
I've given Williams the benefit of the doubt for the past few years, but if this team finishes in 3rd place or below, I really think KW should step down and let Hahn take control of this team. It's not going to get better for a few years, so let Rick come in and let's see what he can do. He's been patient and loyal to this organization for quite some time. It's time to reward him for that.
"Should've joined Ozzie in Miami"
Where does the blame go?
Over the last 5-6 years, Id say ...
25-30% of the blame to - Ozzie, nit much
35-45% of the blame to KW, not just for his moves but also for the way the conducts business, two falling outs with ex- sox players, SMH
25-30&- to Reinsdirf...... for not firing one of the two sooner...
We also kept the wrong manager in hindsight, to me anyway. Shoulda given Ozzie that contract he wanted....then JR woulda had to let KW go....
As Theo Epstein has said in the past, 10 years is about as long as a GM can remain effective with one major league team. Williams has been here since 2000. He brought the Sox a World Series title and I'm eternally grateful to him for that, but IMO it's time to let Hahn take over. Maybe he can turn this ship around.
