We haven't had a true defender in centre since Ozzie drove out Brian Anderson.
Even Swisher was tolerable in CF, but, again, Ozzie drove him out of town. I'd kill to have Swish back.
The negative to having Anderson still would be the bottom 3 would be Morel, Beckham and Anderson.
Brings back memories of Crede-Davis-Borchard.

Rowand gets hype because he dived for balls!!!1 But he only looked good because he had bad jumps on balls and have to dive!!!!1 to prevent hits. A normal center fielder would have just been routinely catching them.
Plus he was on the 2005!!!1 team.

i can take a guy who is avg with batting and good at defense, but morel cannot hit. he is bad. one of either beckham or morel has to sit. morel in the 2 hole is so annoying
Even in 2006/2007/2008 when the line up was still somewhat respectable, I was fine with the #9 hitter being a compete pud at the plate as long as they we're awesome in the field.
I was fine with Anderson starting (FOBA!!!!!1) and that is why I didn't mind keeping Beckham around last year and this year. But now that Rios, Dunn, De Aza, Morel, etc are all being puds....ehhh...send him to Charlotte for a bit. Can't hurt.

Morel is a backup utility infielder. The only reason he's the starter is because they don't have any other options.

Morel was projected to be another Crede (low BA/OBP but hit some power and field well).
He's got the low BA/OBP and fields well, if he could tap that power and was power threat in the 8th spot I'd be fine with him, really.
