Fans just need to understand it's a shift in philosophy. Gone (for now) are the days at handing free agents blank checks. Personally, I'm fine with that. It's refreshing to think that we'll have the opportunity to watch young talent blossom into hopeful superstars. I think Rizzo, Jackson and Baez can all be very good. If we're able to land some pitching prospects and potentially get anything for Soriano, Byrd, Dempster or even Garza, that could put us in a better position going into 2013.

This is the worst start for the Cubs since the infamous 0-14 start the Cubs had in 1997. They finished the month of April 6-19 and the year 68-94. The last time the Cubs started 3-9 was 1994.

That was sort of the point I was trying to make, among other things. They're gonna suck, so let's just have fun with it however we can.

I would recommend a TOOTBLAN drinking game but we'd all be dead of alcohol poisoning by the third inning.

Well, we've got the 6th, 43rd and 56th picks in the draft this year. That gives us a chance to jump start the rebuilding process. Maybe add a corner outfielder and some pitching. The last time we had this many picks in the first round was 2002 -- and none of those guys ever made it to the majors. Hopefully we do a better job evaluating talent this time around :smug:

No problem. Most of the complaints I've heard so far this season are summed up in the blog post linked in the opening post.

I expected the Cubs to suck this season and at certain times I can laugh at it. Knowing the Cubs will suck for at least the next 3 years is the hard part.

Whatever you do, don't go on the ESPN gameday conversations. The "fans" that post there are worse than d3a.

I expected the worst going into the season. Remaining optimistic for the future and watching young talent is enjoyable.

I been waiting for years to see them get rid of the slob in left field. Really hoping it happens soon.

I've become so immune to the Cubs losing that this season isn't even bothering me. If this is happening in oh, 2015, I might be a little pissed though.

Having zero expectations is a good defense mechanism to avoid disappointment. Everyone knew the team was weak, but these bums would be hard pressed to score off of JVHS pitching.
