I will say this...someone needs to teach him how to shoot...or play offense in general. It annoys me that some guys get through everything in basketball purely because of their height. They have no skill offensively and succeed defensively just because they're bigger and longer than everyone else. Now obviously you have to be good to be in the NBA in the first place, but someone needs to teach this man how to shoot. Asik is never going to be a guy that shoots that midrange jumper...but maybe he can at least get up to 60% free throw shooting and learn to keep the ball high around the basket so he doesn't get stripped all the time.

what happen to korver?
did he even play? lol i dont remember seein him
While I'd like to say yes, the answer is no. NBA history is filled with players with zero offensive ability and a ton of defensive ability. Ben Wallace got into AGS purely by virtue of his defensive ability. Furthermore big men have been historically bad free throw shooters. Not sure why this is the case, maybe they never learn properly at a young age or something, but regardless of why, it's usually the case that big men can't shoot free throws. Heck look at Taj, I love the guy, but I think he barely shot 60% from the free throw line this season...and he's a guy who takes midrange jumpers. This isn't a probably exclusive to Asik...it's virtually every big man in existence.

While I agree with all this, King, Wennington, & Swirz all have said on multiple occasions that it is a confidence thing with Asik. He has a very good form on his FT's & he hits them all the time in practice & before games. Now part of that can be due to in-game exhaustion (like the last 2 he took ugh) but for some reason or another his confidence in his shot is gone by tip-off.
And let's not kid ourselves, Noah does not take any 15-footers with regularity. In fact, I'm often yelling at the TV for him to shoot when he's open but he ends up usually dishing it to a teammate. Ditto for Gibson as well. The only big we have who is not afraid to shoot is Boozer, & he's been great at it all year until this series. He could've grabbed 30 boards tonight but it doesn't matter for shit when you are expected to score & you put up 1-11!
He played like 5 minutes. Thibs was riding the group that was playing well. He stuck with that group from midway through the 3rd quarter on. I guess I can't blame him too much...that group almost won us the game, but I think fatigue might've gotten the best of us on a few plays.

It wasn't Omer's fault. On a team with horrible free throw shooting, the worst on the team was in the game and on the floor. Maybe he shouldn't have been out there???
Well then we gotta get this guy a therapist or something because he's gotta start making at least 60% of his free throws. We're already one of the worst free throw shooting teams in the league (not sure why that's the case...most of our guys aren't that bad) and him improving will help a lot.
Boozer...not sure what the deal was. Couldn't get a thing going at all. And you're definitely right about Noah and Gibson...they could shoot a lot more midrange jumpers than they do. I guess Taj is getting better at that.

Meh...Thibs was going with a defensive lineup at the time anyway and with Noah out, Asik was going to be in there. The real issue was CJ giving him the ball instead of keeping it. By giving him the ball he effectively threw Omer under the bus...or more like dragged him under with him.

Iguodala is one of the best defensive wings in the NBA. You guys want to suddenly discredit the one thing Iggy is consistent at, then fault Korver?
I'll say this again, we have a steal of a player in Korver.
16-21 FT today and Asik was so tired it WAS sure that he would miss them. He had 4-5 till the last free throws and he did everything he could do today. It was CJ's fault or Thibs fault for keeping CJ while he was completely negative in everything he did. Or Thibs fault not having a time out to call. Or Thibs fault for having Boozer so much time in the game.
Trade anyone else besides Rose for a star please.
Because there were no timeouts left & he couldn't be subbed out. Pretty simple.
The real question is...WHY IN THE WORLD DO YOU PASS TO THE WORST FT SHOOTER ON THE TEAM WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE WHEN YOU COULD HAVE RUN ANOTHER COUPLES SECONDS OFF THE CLOCK & HAD A CAREER 79% FT SHOOTER TAKING THEM!!!??
Seriously, FUCK CJ WATSON!
bump
Noah will not play in the Olympicas for Franc ... ankle still in bad shape.
