Probably more for preventing head injuries from players catching hard knees to the helmet.

I don't see the problem. Doesn't Nike produce those new lightweight honeycomb pads that are integrated into the pants? Seems like those wouldn't hinder any speed or movement.

Should probably just put everybody in bouncy fat suits, then it could be the friendliest contact sport in da world.

When a trend is already in place, and exercised by 9/10ths of the players, the safety initiative is justified. This will not impact the game, and should be a no brainer, considering the great improvements that the newer pads give to flexibility and weight.

I admit, I was ready to react at yet another safety change, but this one is not like the rest. All changes should be recognized by what and how the player trends resemble, and not because a group of observers in front of a table had a discussion of trying to fix an injury problem overnight.

Yeah, maybe in terms of contusions and injuries of that nature but thats about it. Knee sprains cant be prevented by a little padding or whatever the hell they plan on using.

They need to focus on how to make the helmets safer, not fn thigh pads.
