Google Translate

Terrible translation from Google translator, but you get the idea.

Bojan Krkic (Known as just Bojan) played for the Spanish National team, but due to FIFA rules, he is allowed to and is expected to switch allegiances to the Serbian national team in favor of more playing time.

Sorry but I think that's stupid. Of course good news for Serbia but still stupid.
Switching national teams when you have only played for the u-18's is ok but now he has played for Spain's main team(and Catalonia's :p).

So now what, anyone who has double nationality and doesn't get much playing time can switch national teams? Maybe they should give him the option to turn back to Spain then, if things are not going his way

I, most likely wouldn't say that if I was Serbian but still...

Anyway a single player cannot make a team that better except if he is Messi/Ronaldo caliber. Bojan isn't.

I am Serbian, so I am obviously biased :)

FIFA has rules regarding this, and I think Bojan hasn't hit the number of appearances yet where switching national teams wouldn't be allowed. im not sure on the rule exactly, but I think there is a benchmark they have to hit before they are forbidden to switch.

Like you said though, GREAT FOR SERBIA!!!!! :D

Here is a blurb from a story about Edgar Castillo

Castillo: "I Would Play For The United States" - US Soccer Players

But earlier this month FIFA passed a rule that allowed players with dual citizenship to switch National Teams if they had only been cap-tied at the youth National Team level. Because the games Castillo played for Mexico’s senior team were friendlies, he is eligible to switch allegiances to the United States.

So it looks like if you play 1 game in a non-friendly match, then you CAN NOT switch national teams.

So Bojan must have played only friendlies for Spain and Catalonians

Bojan has only 1 appearence for Spain(friendly it seems), so he is good whatever the benchmark is.
Anyway, Greece and Serbia are supposed to be friends so I'm OK with it.:)

Too bad Serbia didn't make it to the Euro.

From wikipedia

He was called up by the Serbian national team and team manager Radomir Antić but declined because of his wish to play for La Furia Roja (the Red Fury), which he considered the only national colours that he would have on his jersey.

On 1 February 2008, Bojan was included in Luis Aragonés' squad for the friendly against France on 6 February 2008. Should he have featured in that match, Bojan would have made history by becoming the youngest player ever to represent Spain at 17 years, 5 months and 9 days, eclipsing Ángel Zubieta's record of 17 years and 9 months, which has stood for over 70 years. However, Bojan fell ill and could not play.
On 17 May 2008, it was revealed that Bojan had been left out of Spain's 23-man squad for Euro 2008, after having talked to Luis Aragonés asking if he could be left out of the team on personal grounds, and also citing fatigue.

He made his debut on 10 September 2008 (at 18 years and 13 days) under Vicente del Bosque against Armenia, where he came on during the last ten minutes for Santi Cazorla and played on the right wing.

Serbia and Greece are brothers forever!

Yea, our fans making us forfeit the game in Italy killed us, then we lost to estonia at home

Crazy how far we fell after winning our group in World Cup 2012 qualifying (France was in the group) and now we didn't even qualify for Euro's...embarassement

Good news is we got a Serbian Legend in Sinisa Mihajlovic to be our new coach.

World Cup qualifying in the fall will be our coming out party (hopefully) as a European power once again.

We have a pretty easy group except for Croatia (those matches will be fun :) )

From wikipedia

Quick turnaround huh?

:lmao:

He is a risky choice, but Serbia lacks scoring so bad.

Pantelic is inconsistant and getting older

Zigic is slow and only his height is useful

The U.S. screwed the pooch on that one.

Serbia, like most other Balkan countries, has a large amount of refugees which fled during the war in the 90's...this problem will continue popping up
