Three methods. Belly-up, trap or double-switch.How do you defend pick and roll? Asking for a friend, not me.
Belly-up is when the defender closes in on the ballhandler and attempt squeeze by the player setting the pick.
Trap is when the defender tries to keep the the play from happening by "trapping" the ballhandler too far away to start the offense.
Double-switch is when the defensive player guarding the screener "switches" and follows the player in motion and the defender who is screened sticks to that offensive player.

Leads me to wonder what Harden's value will be in trade or FA.
I think I talked about this with Hou, and I think Harden's a 2nd scorer on a medicore team, and a 3rd scorer on a team like the Thunder.
Depending on the outside scoring ability of the stars on his team, I'd say that's about right. OKC is fortunate enough to have Durant and Westbrook, so that leaves Harden as a very solid and reliable third option. Shift him to a team like Cleveland or maybe Indiana and he's arguably your second option behind Irving in Cleveland and Granger or Hibbert in Indiana.
