Can't blame a hitting coach for terrible players not hitting, however it was the right move going forward. We need a hitting coach that will preach patience instead of over-aggressiveness. Hopefully we can get somebody soon that will work with Castro on taking walks.

It's the right move! He was not gunna be back, so the Cubs just let him go early.

exactly. there is no point in firing him. "preaching castro to take walks" im sure thats been done. he is still developing (cub fans should hope)

I guess its rudys fault for lahair starting strong, sorianos power as of late, dejesus getting on base.

He has guys like barney, campana, mather, stewart, 1000 different catchers.

again how is this his fault? the team is rebuilding....so stupid. whats next sveum gonna go?

He was not gunna come back, so let him look for a job elsewhere. He'll picked up, so it doesn't matter. It's not gunna hurt his career.

Honeslty if they kept him, I wouldn't care. Since they let him go, I don't care. It's just not a big move to me and does not do anything.

That is terrible logic, I don't like Jaramillo's philosophy much, but this is poor rationale.

I want a hitting coach that cares more about OBP, but "let him go easy" is a reason? What?

Bernfield:
The #Cubs launched Jaramillo because they want a guy who will teach their hitting philosophy. Good coach who had bad hitters to work with.

Well this came out of nowhere. He's the scapegoat for a struggling offense with little talent in a big rebuilding phase. I doubt he'll be out of a job for long though.

I'm guessing it has to do less with the mechanics of hitting and more with recognizing pitches, working the count, etc. This was definitely a surprise to me, but it really isn't Rudy's fault that his team sucks.

Yeah I am kind of shocked that this happened now. I mean there was talk from the moment Sveum was hired that Jaramillo and him wouldn't mesh philosophy wise, but I thought this would be an end of the year change. Jaramillo can't pull a Rothschild it seems and last through more than 2 managers.

Theo says Rudy not to blame. Says change prompted more because wants change in philosophy. #Cubs

Basically what I was saying earlier about patience/discipline.
