I thought it was an elbow problem.
He was never as good as his rookie year, but something happened to him where he lost command and velocity. It could have been sudden onset badness, but injury isn't out of the question given that he had a forearm strain last year and now shoulder surgery. I fully expect him in a couple of years to be a scrap heap reclamation project by the Cards.

This viedo gives a glimpse at why some are so excited about Szczur. He is kind of like Samardzija in the sense that since he hasn't been full time baseball except for a couple of years he has got the possibility to be special, but a very low chance at reaching that point.

I just glanced at but elbow injury would make senae given the forearm strain last year.
Taking time off from being pissed off about the Dempster screwjob to post this scary stuff.Jae-Hoon Ha collides with cement wall in Jacksonville. On backboard. Ambulance on the way. Yikes

No laughing matter there. And they wonder why I get so huffy about the brick wall at Wrigley Field.
He was taken off the field in an ambulance. Hoping for the best.

Brett Jackson has one eight-pitch walk and one eight-pitch strikeout.
Now he just needs a homer on the eighth pitch and we will have our three true outcomes.
Terrible line on twitter, but it is damn funny...
Ha fought the wall and the wall won

Wow...bases clearing two-out single plus error. I-Cubs suck.
Sickels posts an update on his preseason top 20 list for the Cubs. Some good, some bad...Basically admits what we all know that the top 20 is going to look a lot different in 2013.

I'm guessing this is due to the Ha injury last night. It is good to see, and I will finally get a chance to really watch him.
Reminds me with Szczur, but I was wrong about Soler, Concepcion and Szczur having only 3 options. Apparently each is going to qualify for a fourth option year according to AZ Phil.

Callis chat:
John (Boston): What is the ceiling of Javier Baez? Are there any questions about his strike zone discipline?
Jim Callis: Huge ceiling. He has a big-time bat and has played a better shortstop than expected, to the point where he might be able to stay there. His biggest need right now is to tone down his approach at the plate, though it's hard to argue with the results.http://ht.ly/1lG4RMMatt C (Ankeny, IA): Is Dillon Maples hurt? Cubs #1 prospect if you wrote the Top 10 today - Baez or Soler? Thanks!
Jim Callis: Maples tweaked his elbow earlier in the year and the Cubs have exercised extreme caution. I'd have Baez No. 1 . . . don't forget about Almora, either.

Szczur 0-for-2 with a lineout and a strikeout (7 pitches) so far in his AA debut.
I think Rosscup is the other guy from Tampa in the Garza trade and he just struck out the side. Szczur up to bat in the next half-inning.
Brett Jackson hasn't struck out yet.
