If he isn't injured then they wouldn't DL him, as it could hurt trade value and wherever he is traded to would have to deal with him being on the DL and not being able to use him.

I heard that too. He can pitch with it, it's not bad at all. They just did it so he doesn't get injured or have a bad start. They're trying to get the best package they can and with him going on the DL with not giving up a run in 22 innings, it's the best chance.

I would be very surprise if he makes another start in a Cubs uniform this season. So... he'll be traded in the coming week or so.

It does not make much sense and the timing is weird. Let's just see how this plays out.

1. He got injured. Injury=DL, it makes perfect sense
2. Timing is weird? Okay, because soreness isn't ever found after you start... Injury happens when it happens, the timing isn't weird
3. It won't play out, he is on the bench not in the game :troll:

danks dominated the cubs and than went on the DL. shit is weird all the time in this game

Thats not weird, injury = DL nothing weird about it

there's a precaution because they don't want to have dempster possibly exacerbating a lingering injury...which at his age could seriously hurt the tail end of his career and make him less attractive(i know you dont want to hear that..but it's the truth)

either way..his trade value was going to go down because the injury would have caught up with him and either he would have gotten seriously DL'd..or his stats would have suffered..or both

plus you have to expect that dempster will deviate a bit from these hot numbers
