Pretty amazing stuff from Jordan, and a lot going on in this game. KJ and BJ Armstrong scuffle, Jordan and Ainge get into it twice towards the end of the game. At the 7:00 mark, Jordan has a HUGE dunk on Ainge. In one of the few times he was punked, Jordan fouls Majerle on a 3 pointer at the end of the half, and then goes "Dwayne Wade" on the ref. And finally, Jordan gets fouled by Barkley on the last play and makes the game-clinching 3pt play.
I was impressed that Jordan could blow by anyone the Suns put on him. KJ was terrible, Majerle was worse, Ainge was bad, Dumas was bad. The only guy they didn't try on Jordan was Barkley. And then after Jordan would get a path to the basket, Chambers and West were slow to step up so Jordan got a ton of layups.
Suns had a great team that year to bad Dumas messed up his whole career. Anyone remember the famous Barkley interview after game 1 about KJ and the suns fans?
Jordan's entire Finals that year was disgusting
41ppg on nearly 51% shooting
8.5 rpg
6.3. apg
1.6 spg
Barkley got off a few times that series but he had 3 games that were real struggles despite him filling the stat sheet.
Yup, its summer time everyone.......time for the forum to be flooded with history threads that go on as far as the eye can see......
Yup, Jordan was amazing.
One of the best games in finals history [ame=http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CdEPXSKUcD8]YouTube - Bulls vs Suns 1993 Finals - Game 3 - Triple Overtime, Michael Jordan 44 points[/ame]
Remember this game...Jordan was good for one game that he would win...by himself. Especially during the first 3 peat, it seems he did that once per series, no matter who he faced. That game came right after the 3OT game.
By the way, Ainge was one of the pettiest players I can ever remember in the league. He was a very sore loser. I remember the time in 1994, when the Phoenix Suns would win 2 games in Houston, then Houston came back and won the series...during that series, at the end of one of the games, Danny Ainge threw the ball, full force, off of Mario Elie's face....like 100mph while standing out of bounds. I am sure that is on youtube somewhere.
I have seldom been as nervous as I was during that year's playoffs. I didn't believe the Bulls could beat the Knicks that year, and I didn't believe they would beat the Suns...they took the first 2 games in Phoenix...I remember being shocked at how well the Bulls played.

I think of all the teams the Bulls played in the postseason during their title runs, the 93 Suns were the only team whom the Bulls never figured out and that was the only series in which I thought things were out of the Bulls' control. The Bulls defense just couldn't ever really stop the Suns. Majerle was super-human that series on offense.
The Suns had too many players who could hit outside shots. It seemed like in every other series, if the Bulls needed to turn things around they could just step up the defensive intensity, shut down the other team, create turnovers, and get easy baskets. It seemed like the Suns were actually better when forced to shoot outside. Barkley scored some inside baskets but he wasn't really dominant. And it seemed like the Suns didn't turn the ball over all that much (could be wrong).
Yeah, he fell off after his injury when he came back in 95 with the Suns..He ended up in Philly and it was all down hill for him...Never the same again.
He could of been an all time great with his scoring abiltiy in the post.
I hope this doesn't happen to Rose's career....Long rehab for Derrick.
