Now that we got our third basemen, who's next? Sox need another starter and another reliever. But we don't really have a lot to haggle with, so our best bet is probably finding a rental.

Who do you think is available that we can nab?

I was thinking Randy Wolf: Wolf does have a WHIP of 1.50 but a BABIP of .328. Maybe with a better defense behind him those hits can come down and Coop may be able to help him with walks. He's a free agent at the end of the season. He was owed 9.5MM this season, you have to get Milwaukee to cover some of the remainder, and he has a buyout for next season at $1.5MM

Rotation, in no particular order:
Jake Peavy
Chris Sale
Randy Wolf
Gavin Floyd
Jose Quintana
Dylan Axelrod

then eventually we get Danks, and Humber back.

When everyone is healthy, you can move some of those guys to the pen to freshen that up too if need be. I don't know of any relievers on the block though that we could afford. I don't think we could land Balfour, Broxton, Street, K-Rod, or Myers.

Speaking of King Felix he has lost velocity this year.

It would take like 10 players to nab him anyway.

Like what waldo said, Guthrie would be a good fit.

Rockies would have to eat most of his contract though, but he should come easily enough as he is having a down year.

What to look into: pitching at Coors, high BABIP (.317)

He IS getting shelled at home, but he's getting shelled on the road too.

I am confused why Dewey would pass on Wolf but go after Guthrie. Is it cost, because in terms of ability Wolf is clearly better?

I think the Brewers could get more for Marcum from a qualifying offer than what the Sox can offer in terms of rebuilding the franchise. I am really interested to see the first few trades of free agents to be to see what their value really is amonst GMs.

Yeah. If we got Wolf and put Floyd into the bullpen, the entire rotation would be lefties except for Peavy. It's always good to have lefties, but having basically an entire rotation of lefties isn't great.

There aren't many good righties out there on the trade block. Just wish Floyd would stop sucking and be the pitcher he was supposed to be when he was drafted. Then Quintana and/or Humber could be used as trade bait to maybe get someone better in the bullpen.

But if the Sox can't make that happen, I would be fine with Peavy, Sale, Danks, Quintana, Humber and then Floyd in the pen or Floyd and Humber switched.

It's not a World Series winning staff. Not even close. But it will probably get the Sox to the playoffs. And that's a step in the right direction.

so we should keep looking for a 3basemen?

Yeah. That was a pretty dumb thing to say. Even if Youk sucks it up, it's not like the Sox are going to go after another 3B.

They've already made their decision on that.
