White Sox purchased the contract of LHP Leyson Septimo from Triple-A Charlotte.

Septimo will fill the lefty specialist role left vacant by Will Ohman's departure. The 26-year-old Dominican was sporting a 1.48 ERA in 30 1/3 innings at Triple-A.

Never heard of him. By the looks of a 1.48 ERA, he's doing something right.

Basically the same as Ohman. Ventura has to use him right for him to be good.

He absolutely dominates lefties, but isn't great against righties. He has issues finding the zone and with control, but I think he'll be "good enough" for the Sox. Not really an upgrade though.

Here's what Kevin Goldstein said about him:
Septimo could have value for White Sox. Plus-plus velo, esp. for LHP, and LHB can't touch him. Doesn't know where it's going at times.

From @CST_soxvan:

Septimo 93-94 fastball, Cooper said, with slider and change. "No cutter yet. They usually get one within 15 minutes of getting here, tho.''

Cooper said Septimo won't be limited to facing lefties only.

Cooper on Septimo: 'He was a released player so credit the scouts to finding this guy and the organization to developing him.''
