if you want to make a PR move and get idiot fans to come to the park, you send down esco and nab thome. Do we need him? nope. but its better than a dan johnson call up and he would be another veteran to help this squad out in the club house. He also was promised a job by JR when he retires. When Dunn goes into slumps like recently, you can finally give a day off to dunn and have thome DH. just a thought....but im more or less thinking from a business perspective.

Supposedly he wants to go either to the Sox or the Indians. No room here though.

Would be cool to see him retire in Chicago.

Best chance for a ring is Texas. I'm sure he can outproduce Michael Young....

I love Jim Thome! That said Dews is right. It's a PR move for us and really would weaken the flexibility of the team.

Jim is a drop dead guaranteed first ballot Hall of Famer!

Yeah...pretty much agree w/ all of you guys...It'd be a good business move for him to be on the South Side, and I'd love to see him retire as a WS (and believe he will, even if it's one of those 1-day contracts) but he seems to be a better fit on the Indians. I'd think Sox fans would want to give him more at bats than the Sox could give him at the moment, and I assume he'd want to be pretty regularly in the line-up as well.

Fans won't come out to see a guy on the DL. Not worth it

There's no room for him on the Indians.

I think the Rangers might be a place he might go. Michael Young would play 1B everyday and Thome would be the DH. Make that offense even better.

Rangers have more than enough hitting..they need more depth at pitching.

Their lineup is already ridiculous. Putting Thome in there would make it fucking amazing. Wouldn't even need pitching because they would score so many runs.

Ranger with the lowest OPS+: Cruz.

That's sick.

How many in their lineup have an OPS+ over 100? Like 7 or 8?

Cruz is the lowest at 97.

C - Napoli: 105
1B - Moreland: 116
2B - Kinsler: 105
SS - Andrus: 107
3B - Beltre: 128
LF - Murphy: 128
CF - Hamilton: 163
RF - Cruz: 97
DH - Gentry: 134

Yep. I was right. 8 guys in the lineup that are above average hitters. Fucking crazy. And Cruz isn't terrible either.

If they get Greinke, they have a really good chance at winning the World Series as long as there are no big injuries.

fuck 3 or 4 of their guys can go to the DL and they are probably still the best team.
