The 1st half of the White Sox's 2012 season has come to a close at 47 wins and 38 losses, 1st place in the AL Central and leading the Cleveland Indians by 3 games and the Detroit Tigers by 4 games. Outstanding boys! After struggling for much of the beginning, the Sox have been doing nothing but win games lately. Since being 21-21 starting on May 23rd, they are 26-17! While much of this credit goes to the pitching staff for keeping them in almost every game, the offense would wake up as well.

Surprises? Well the talk has been Kevin Youkilis lately who was acquired in a trade for pitcher Zach Stewart and utility player Brent Lillibridge('m still :( about TBH) to help solidify the third base side which was ranked dead last in nearly every offensive category. In 13 games since coming to the South Side, he is tearing the ball, batting .347 with 3 homeruns and 14 RBIs!

The 3 younger pitchers are quite surprising in southpaw pitcher Chris Sale who was originally a reliever is suddenly becoming the ace of the South Siders, going 10-2 in 15 starts, 11 of them quality starts with an ERA of 2.19 with 98 punchouts and 25 walks in 102.2 innings thrown. The other one is Jose Quintana, another southpaw has done well since being called up recording a 2.04 ERA while winning 4 games, losing 1 in 8 starts and finally Addison Reed the closer is pitching well despite having a 4.06 ERA he has save 13 of 14 chances in 34 games while throwing 31 innings.

What about the Veterans? Well, Jake Peavy is a machine with a team leading 108 strikeouts while going 7-5 with an ERA of 2.85 with 4 complete games(1 was a shutout) in 17 starts. Captain Paul Konerko's average has dropped in recent weeks but still batting at .329 with 14 HRs and 42 RBIs with a .932 OPS. Overall this is a great start for the Sox, there are a few things they need to do if they want to stay on top of the Central Division but for now, I like how they are performing! Enjoy the Break Sox fans!

PS, Jake Peavy has replaced CJ Wilson on the AL All-Star team!

And we still haven't got John Danks back. See a bright second half for this team!
