Ball was hit slowly enough to get the run inning, but Maholm is one out away from another quality start.

Bad call costs the Cubs. Inning continues but Maholm should be out of it.

John Buck flys out so the call doesn't cost the Cubs.

Marmol must have gotten the memo about the draft pick situation.

    Of note:

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=320719116

Soto saw almost as many pitches as Rizzo and Castro combined in less plate appearances. But at the same time, Castro hit a couple of balls pretty hard.

    ESPN:

Soriano’s home run was his 150th as a Cub. He is only the 13th Cub to have at least 150 in team history.

Nah.... eventually this team will suck ass again. It's only a matter of days before Dempster is gone, a couple of weeks before Garza is gone. I also would not be surprised if Maholm ends up on another roster as well, along with Camp, Baker, and Johnson. I suspect Soriano will be a waiver-wire deal in August. Everyone is flying high now, but that will change once this team is back to having Volstad and Wells back in the rotation.
