Outside of Billy Hamilton who plays SS what do the Reds have to offer?

RHP Robert Stephenson is a guy they drafted last year. He came out of high school and can hit 97. Mayo compares him to Garza. JC Sulbaran is another arm that looks interesting and has put up decent numbers at AA. ERA is in the 4s but he is striking out more than one batter per inning and has an over 2-1 K:BB rate. Tony Cingara is a lefty that the Reds drafted out of college (Rice). Was a reliever in college that has transitioned really well into a starter. Cingara and Sulbaran could be ready by next season, and Stephenson has the most upside of any of the arms. Those are the non Hamilton prospects that stick out to me. If this was Hendry though he would probably be drooling over the toolsy Yorman Rodriguez.

Apparently the Dbacks are looking for an impact arm for Justin Upton.

I would defiantly explore a Garza and somebody deal for Upton.

A lot of the talk is that it is a pitched above Garza's ability levels. Though you can of course sign me up for that deal.

We could offer Garza and Brett Jackson?

Upton would be a dream come true if we could keep Castro and Rizzo.

    A top 4 of

    1. Dejesus
    2. Castro
    3. Rizzo
    4. Upton

    Would be awesome.

D'Backs just nixed the Upton trade rumors.

And the M's nixed King Felix being out there. Nothing with legs. It appears like the Jays or Reds are most serious suitors for Garza.

Jayson Stark on Mike and Mike apparently said that it is likely that Garza gets dealt. This is via Brett at Bleacher Nation.

Cubs Den is saying the Jays are heavily in on Garza and believe he is healthy. They have been the most aggressive suitor for quite a while now. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2...o-any-of-them/

I think that trade does get finished... I bet the Cubs will ask about Arnaud, but get denied. Especially since they traded Soto. The Cubs could add Castillo Clevener in the trade too. But again. I bet the Cubs are with with Castillo and Clevenger and just ask for pitching.

Would have to imagine the Cubs are asking for a bunch of arms with the guys that the Jays have. Gose and D'arnaud are nice prospects, but the Cubs need to pile up as many arms as they can. And the Jays have the high upside guys you want.

Gose is in the majors and the Jays like him a lot, so he'll stay in the majors.

And they like D'Arnaud a lot too, but I would say the priority is getting as many of those upside arms they can.

The deal would have to be based around Noah Syndergaard and Aaron Sanchez then.

Both are big right handed power pitchers.

D'Arnaud is the only prospect they have in the top 20 according to MlB so I think we have to ask for him. Their highest rated pitcher is 78.

Daniel Norris is the arm that I think the Cubs would want. He was in the top 100 to start the year after gettig drafted out of high school, and has put up solid numbers. D'Arnaud isn't likely to be on the table, and digging your heels in to get him is counter productive when there are tons of high upside arms in the Jays system that we could really use.

I would be very happy just to get two of those arms in a deal.

The D'Backs are "working hard on something big," tweets ESPN's Buster Olney. Olney feels that an Upton-Matt Garza framework makes sense for the Cubs and Diamondbacks.

Rosenthal says that Garza isn't elite enough, and Upton would have to waive his NTC and we don't have time to do the dance to get him to waive it.

Seriously, a 24 year old with 30 HR power and a good defender blows. He was in a terrible slump, but I would love to add a guy with his skillset and age.

sure but he is a FA in 2015 when the cubs are projected to contend. he does nothing for the rebuilding process. the only positive is he plays out of his mind and you can trade him for specs next deadline as the cubs are running out of mlb talent to actually get specs back.

I think he'd only be 27, about to enter his prime, so there's a reason you at least think about it. I'd rather get younger, less expensive pieces though but this isn't exactly a fail deal if it happens.
