Discuss the 2012 Summer Olympics here. All news, event discussions and comments, etc.
Cheer for Serbia until they are eliminated in an event, then pull for U.S.
When Serbia is not in an event, I cheer for the U.S.
Serbia is only in like 11 events, so I cheer for the U.S. alot
Djokovic is Serbia's best chance for a Gold Medal!!!

Alphabetical parade!![]()
I'm not sure what other cable providers have this, but with AT&T, you can record specific sports you prefer to watch.
The wife has decreed that BBC One is better because she doesn't have to deal with the annoyance that is Bob Costas.
U-S-A! U-S-A!![]()
The queen looked like she was Tweeting hahaha.
Best ceremony since Atlanta, imo.

I didn't like it. Mr. Bean, the Queen and Bond, and the torch lighting were the only good parts. That digital age part was the stupidest thing I've seen.
This ceremony didn't even come close to sniffing Beijing. That won't ever be topped.
EDIT: Not to mention all the awkward parts. Like the ridiculous dance those men in suits and top hats did where they acted like they were pulling imaginary levers. And that giant creepy baby.

I dunno...I thought this one was better, but I like quirky British stuff. I'm kind of sad they didn't let Doctor Who light the torch though, but whatcha gonna do.
Innovative but boring. Shakespeare+Disney+Glee.
I would have rather them set a stage in the middle of the stadium and put Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and John Cleese out there for four hours.
But nothing comes close to Beijing. It's widely regarded as #1 and untouchable.
To each their own.

USA wins their first medal, which is a silver in archery. Man that was intense... Italy won by 1 point on the last shot when they needed a perfect 10. Heart breaker.
And Serbia got their first medal [bronze] in shooting.![]()
Poland with a silver in shooting. On the board.
USA got their first gold in the 400m men's swimming event. 2nd medal overall.
Italy, China, Japan and Brazil are in the lead with 3 medals each.
Michael Phelps is slacking. Too much Subway.
Phelps=annoying, arrogant prick...glad to see he's struggling.
"There is nothing new under the sun".
Looks like the USA is good at basketball.
Two complaints:
1) I wish they would show the race length and whether its a qualifying or medal race for the swim events. I tend to zone out after the 5th race in a row, and I lose track as to when the race is going to end (length) or whether or not I should be cheering (qualifying/medal). My typical experience is to watch the people swim back and forth until they all stop, and then get upset that the USA girl came in second only to find out it was just a qualifying race.
2) Great NBC soccer coverage. I was watching the Brazil-Belarus game, and partway through the 2nd half with Brazil up 2-1, the NBC channel (MSNBC?) cuts to a commercial break while the game is going on. The players are passing the ball and then you are watching some ad for vagasil. A few minutes later you are back watching the game, and the announcers talk as if nothing happened.
