So, we have Castro and Rizzo graduated, but the top (talent, not level) of our system is still pretty heavy with:
Albert Almora
Javier Baez
Brett Jackson
Jorge Soler
Matthew Szczur
Josh Vitters

Beyond those six, who fills out the top 10?

Jeimer Candelario often comes up. Maybe Dillon Maples if he ever gets to pitch. Whitenack was a good guy until he had to have TJS. I don't really know who else really excites me.

Junior Lake is the only one of that list Uman provided that has a shot, and I would say a pretty low shot at it. Ultimately what we've heard is that the guys outside of the clear cut top don't have a lot seperating themselves. It would be position player heavy with guys like Szczur, Lake, Torreyes (even with the bad start), Vitters, Jackson, Alacantra, Vogelbach, Candelairo, and many others probably filling out the majority. On the pitching side the guys that have the best shot to crack the list have yet to throw a pro pitch in Maples and Pierce Johnson. At least that is my uneducated, educated guess about the situation.

Tough call, though I'd have to say Maples, Vogelbach, Kirk, and Pierce Johnson.... just on the fringe would be Underwood, Lake, Castillo, and Conway. Of course, I believe this will dramatically change once some trades are made.

Probably pretty close, though at this point I'd almost say that you'd have to rate Vitters above Jackson. I can see Maples slipping since he hasn't pitched.

If it is in deed Delgado that comes over for Dempster... I think he becomes a top 5 type.

Methinks

Baez/Soler/Almora > Delgado > Jackson/Szczur/Vitters

I like Zeke DeVoss a lot.

His average is low this year so far .230-.240 but his OPB is up around .360

I'd be interested to see his BAbip though too for the year.

Great speed.

I do too... but I kind of hold my breath with him as well. If he can consistently hit around .280 with the high OBP he's showing and the excellent plate discipline and patience... he could become the future leadoff man. Especially since he plays 2B rather well, and isn't part of what's looking like an OF logjam.

Me too, but I worry about a college position player whose main offensive asset is walking. As he moves up through the system guys with better command aren't going to be afraid to pitch to him.

Methinks

Baez/Soler/Almora > Delgado > Jackson/Szczur/Vitters

1 Baez (SS)
2 Soler (OF)
3 Almora (OF)
4 Vitters (3B)
5 Delgado (SP - though it's tough to call a guy who's had 17 starts in the majors this year a prospect at this point)
6 Szczur (OF)
7 Jackson (OF)
8 Candelario (3B-OF)
9 Vogelback (1B-DH)
10 Kirk (SP)
11 Johnson (SP/RP - TBD)
12 Maples (SP/RP - TBD)
13 Underwood (SP/RP - TBD)
14 Welington Castillo (C)
15 Dolis (RP)
16 Torreyes (2B)
17 Lake (SS/3B)
18 DeVoss (2B/OF)
19 Frank Batista (RP)
20 Nick Struck (SP)

In my opinion anyway.... and as of right now.

Delgado would be a top 5. Where depends on how you rank the guys with little or no pro at bats in Almora and Soler. He is clearly ahead of Vitters and below Baez.
