Move over Melton!
Looks like they found an oft-injured, emotional basket case replacement for Adams?

He'll be a good rotational lineman for the Bears. He's still very talented but he had a procedure where he had his hamstring surgically attached to his pelvis I believe and it apparently hasn't fully healed since. Bears needed DT depth after Okoye left and he makes their D-line even better if he can stay healthy.
Low risk, high reward.
This is going to be an underrated move by the Bears front office. Price had a very good college career, winning DPOY I believe. He also has shown some great burst and instincts in the NFL. This will be the classic case of a player emerging because of a new team/city.
As long as health issues stay low, I think Price is exactly what we needed to replace Adams. Price had a major blowout with his old coach in TB, and I don't think he ever got over that... Hopefully a veteran defensive presence can keep him focused....

Hmm... Not sure I'm following you here. Are you suggesting Price and Adams play different positions? Unless we are getting very technical, they both play DT...or at least interior defensive line. While agree they are different types of players, Price does, IMO, fill a void left by Adams.

Shit...another UT?
I was hoping for a NT that could collapse the pocket. We haven't seen that since Ian Scott. Err...Tank Johnson.
Finding a NT who can rush the passer is pretty damn hard to find.
And which I'll never get how we caught lightning in a bottle twice in the mid 2000s. You don't need a pass rush from the big guy, just a NT that can make a push and can get their hands up

SAMOAN SACKMEN!!
^^Props To Skills^^
I kinda thought that's what you meant, NT. The Bears defense doesn't usually have a NT, but rather 2 DT's that play gap defense. I guess if they came across a good NT they could adapt, but that's not the focus.
This move adds depth, and that's what we need .. being able to rotate a decent third guy in the mix, keeping guys fresh, is going to be big. Hopefully Shea gets some decent reps and we can also slide Israel in the middle some too.

Hopefully he can stay healthy enough to contribute.

DT Brian Price passed physical. Keep an eye on this guy. Big but word is he is amazing quick in short bursts
No Lovie's bears have always had legit NTs.. just not the type of big NT's like Ted Washington Dick Jauron style players or 3-4 NT's. They don't play that 0 gap over the center but they play the 1 gap which is still the nose, and there is a list of guys they've had in that spot: Ian Scott, Alfonso Boone, Anthony Adams, Dusty D, Darwin Walker, and even Toe were NTs. Toe has played both spots but last year he stuck to the nose, and Tank played both spots on the line. He had 4 NT starts in 05 but mostly filled in for Harris in 06.
But why are there posts saying they hoped he would be a NT to move the pocket? Have people not been made aware that Stephen Paea is playing NT and ought to be the starter going into the season. In a few of his playing instances he showed some push from playing the nose. They had nothing behind Melton for 3-tech which was disturbing all off-season.
With first practice, Price is being reported as being absolutely dominated at the line, including being stunted by Edwin Williams a few times.
