Hopefully he & Hester aren't grooming the young ones on how to speak to the media.

The Chicago Bears have announced that they have signed wide receiver Rashied Davis to a 1-year deal. The name may sound familiar and yes it should. Davis started his NFL career with the Bears after coming over from the Arena football league. Davis manly plays on special teams now with wide receiving in his pocket.
Davis played for the Bears for 6 seasons and after leaving them for 1 season, he played with the rival Detroit Lions.
Davis started off his career with the Bears and was a wide receiver target. But now, Davis mostly makes his name on special teams. He's a great guy to have on special teams. I thought the Bears would have kept the open spot of the Devin Thomas retiring for a guy like Dane Sanzenbacher.

Sanzenbacher has been working on special teams and is trying anyway to make the team. If Sanzenbacher can play on special teams, I think he would be more valuable than Davis. However, since Davis knows Dave Toub's scheme on special teams, he has the heads up in the running. If Sanzenbacher does not make the Bears 53-man roster, he will be lost. There's no way he can sneak to the Bears practice squad with no team picking his up. There is no chance that will happen.

Davis and special teams coach Toub reportedly kept in touch over the off-season. That means, both parties wanted to have a reunion and it looks like it did happen. I do see Davis making the team and being the 6th wide receiver too.

I'm so conflicted about this situation because i love sanzenbacher and really want him to make the team, and i'm half hoping that maybe Davis doesn't have enough left in the tank, but at the same time, Davis is a fucking special teams beast. He'll help so much. He shouldn't have left in the first place, and its good to have him back. I guess, may the best man win. Can Sanzenbacher be put on the practice squad still, even after the games he played in last year?

Sanzenbacher will probably be picked up by New England after we cut him, and learn under Welker for a season, then replace him next year and have 75 catches for 1100 yards and 8 TDs.

Curious to how many WR's the Bears actually keep this year. Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett and Hester are givens. Weems probably makes it as a ST'er, same with Davis. So Sanzenbacher is likely the odd man out.

Either they just wanted more bodies at wr for camp (minor injuries with Bennett, Weems), or Dane just isn't showing enough on ST, which is obviously a must to make the team as a 5th/6th WR.

They probably signed Davis to replace Thomas, especially since Thomas was going to be more of a ST guy anyway. Either way, I hope they can stick Davis on ST AND keep Sanzenbacher as 6th WR. On the other hand, I also would like to see them keep Golden, Summers, and maybe even Crump. Those 3 right there could be the future WR corp down the road.

Man, it's exciting to be a Bear's fan in this new era!

When he heard the news, Zach Zaidman spontaneously jizzed his pants.

Bears make a signing almost solely based on special teams? I am surprised.
