How does the IR work in this league?

I'm going to come out and be honest here. I have never used the IR in fantasy(when, in rare cases, it being available).

I think if your guy i on IR, place him in that spot and you get a free pick-up. Meaning, you wouldn't have to drop anyone as you have an open spot on your roster.

Hmmm. So if you add someone who is IR qualified, and they are healthy, you can just use that spot, and move then up later? Just as long as you have a free spot to move them to, or someone that can move into IR?

Well usually when a player is placed on IR, they won't come back and should just be released. If it's not a keeper league. But with the new rule this year, some players can be placed IR and still come back. Just one player per team, though. So, if they won't come back this year, you should just release them.

Basically you can put a player on IR without that player taking up an active roster spot.

I.E. Rodgers is out for a week, you can put him on IR and pick up another QB without dropping a good player.

Yeah. In the Rodgers scenario, say your teams full, you'd probably drop that QB you picked up to replace him for the week.

Or else if you have an open spot, like you said you can activate Rodgers without penalty.
