Again, it would be for six or more years, and is expected to be finalized before the end of the 2012 season.

He won't be better than you were

You are probably right. There won't be many Cub players who can get close to taking my throne. Ramirez tried....

Comps are Hanley, Tulo and Jose Reyes. They all got something around 6/$50MM so that's about what you might expect for Castro, not taking into account inflation. Might adjust down because he's sucked this season.

its either going to be a bargain if all of a sudden he plays good defense and can get on base, it could be bad as well.

Thanks for linking to his BR page, shows that after last game's performance he moved up 4 in OPS+, and another performance like that could get him up to 100.

Dewey, he already does play good defense.

Thinking about it more and more, and keeping in mind his comparables, I hope they don't go much higher than the 6 years, $40MM.

Didn't Soler get 9/30? Castro has to get at least 6/40. I could see a 6/60 with inflation as Rice mentioned.

Soler was an international free agent. Castro is set for Super-Two arbitration. Two different pay scales. Soler doesn't really have a comparable whereas Castro is probably most comparable to Jose Reyes so I'm guessing he gets around what Reyes got, maybe less since he's not as good of a defender (yet).
