Since I'll be at all their home games, guess I'll start this thread and analyze the games for fun. 1st game is August 30th @ UNLV

You gotta believe
So last night the Gophers played UNLV in Las Vegas. The offense wasn't exactly atrocious as the running game, mostly led by quarterback Marquies Gray, had approximately 200+ yards. However that running game was only effective until a certain point because the while the Gopher O-line was excellent in performing their blocking, the Gopher wideouts were not. Which meant the Gopher halfbacks could get to the outside for medium sized gains but were eventually stopped by the Rebel cornerbacks. Speaking of cornerbacks, the Gophers pass offense was essentially ineffective the whole game as Marquies Gray threw two picks, and consistently overthrew his already struggling wide recievers.
On the other side of the ball the Gopher defensive line murdered the Rebel pass protection and were consistently pressuring the Rebel quarterback into making quick decisions, leading to an ineffective pass game, and a minimalist run game due to the lack of protection. Despite the pressure the Rebel quarterback consistently exploited a major hole in the Gopher defense in the likes of cornerback Troy Stoudermire who blew his coverage several times in the game, and also fumbled on a punt return.
Due to the ugliness the Rebels took the Gophers to OT via a score of 13-13, and would eventually fall to the Gophers by a score of 30-27. I had a ton of fun watching this game with my new friends in my dorm, but we were up until like 2 and we have to get up early today which is really killing us all
Until next week. GO GOPHERS!

Marquies Gray is a disappointment. He's a senior and seems to have barely progressed. UNLV is a team they should've beat by 10+ no problem
But as far as 2013, you can define it as a success or failure by whether we make the postseason, and ultimately whether we win the World Series.

First road win since 2010 - and the first for Jerry Kill at Minny.
So this was our first home game, so I was in attendance for this one. The atmosphere was great because the student section come out in force, as did the non-student Gopher faithful. We played New Hampshire yesterday and let me tell you it was not pretty for them. The fact that a 'mediocre' Gopher squad dropped 44 points on them was laughable, as they let Marquise Gray run all over them with his utilization of the option. The Gopher defense also did relatively well, only holding New Hampshire to seven points, although I think they could have had at least 13 point had they not went for it on 4th down like 3 or 4 times while they were in field goal range. All in all it was a great win for Golden Gopher football, and we are now undefeated and better than Wisconsin because they are 1-1
SKI-U-MAH!
This week we had a gold out at TCF Bank Stadium in front of a sold out crowd. The Gophers won the game 28-23, but the game was even closer than the score made it seem. The Western Michigan quarterback consistently overthrew wide open receivers, which obviously was a gift from God for the Gophers. MarQuise Gray got hurt sometime in the 2nd quarter I believe, but our backup, Max Shortell, came in and really ignited the offense, and lead us to victory. Well I'm procrastinating doing homework so that's all I write for now.

Cool! You think there's any chance Shortell gets the starting job?

I hope so. He is more of a traditional quarterback than MarQuise Gray, because while Gray uses his athletic ability to make his run and pass game a threat, Shortell is a very effective passer who can run when he needs to. Essentially Gray likes to run first and pass second, which screws us over sometimes.

Gopher defense played an amazing game. Stood Syracuse up several times. Our kicker sucks he missed 2 sub-thirty yard field goals. Sold out game 50,850 and the student section was absolutely crazy. I had a ton of fun at the game as I sat front row, and was right on top of the action. Too tired to type more, till next week.
Who hates Iowa?
WE HATE IOWA!
I-O-W-A!!!!!
ESPN Bracketology - First 4 out. As of Jan 15th
MarQueis needs to put tape in his hands. Shortell needs to lead his receivers and people can't just fall down in the endzone when they can pull us within 2 points of a tie.
The Gophers paid UNC $800,000 to get out of playing them the next 2 seasons strictly because they wanted a weaker opponent. We're not exactly talking about Alabama here. I find that embarrassing for a Big 10 team to do. I'd like to know who Kihl or Teague would think they're fooling by winning 1 extra game over another Syracuse or FCS school.

Teague actually came in and talked to my Sports Management Club and said that canceling the Carolina series was Coach Kill's idea but he has to stand behind him. I unfortunately can't remember Jerry's reasoning behind not playing the game.

Gophers win!![]()
They won convincingly too which is nice. I didn't see the game but apparently Nelson did really well so hopefully he's the real deal. They really gotta beat Illinois in a couple weeks to get to a bowl game unless they pull off an amazing upset.
