Will Kobe's sixth and seventh rings will be matched with the Bulls 72-10 record break?

We are not talking about a big 3. We are talking about a big 4 with a very good defender as the 5th player. It's obvious that the league will hand Kobe his missing championships to surpass Jordan in rings. What about the record?

I don't see them winning more than 65 games. There are couple of teams out there they can lose games against.

Its always possible, but I don't think 72 will be broken yet....but I believe that either the Lakers-Heat or OKC will reach 70 in the next few years...
Those three teams are very stacked, and make most teams seem little or far below them when it comes to an arsenal.....So 70 is not out of the question as Well.......I also was going to mention that my phycic intuition tells me the Knicks will reach the 60 mark in near future...possibly this season....yeah I said Knicks...go head an laugh all you want.......but you all will see...

Well, itīs your opinion and I respect that. But no way do the Knicks hit 60 next season. I donīt think they will even pass 55.
I don't think the bulls record is in danger, at least not on the upcoming season. Long-term i think that the heat or maybe even the thunder are closer to breaking the record, rather than the lakers

30 team league with maybe 6 teams that are to be any good and only two that will be serious contenders?
It's definitely in danger. Maybe not this year, but soon it could be tied or fall by one game.

There is no league conspiracy...if there was...Chris Paul would have been there instead of Nash. THAT would have been really scary. The league stopped that from happening. So if Kobe passes Jordan in rings, its because he earned it. I don't buy into those types of conspiracies...no reason to watch if you do.
The league is much stronger than it was in 1996 and the grind will be harder on a core that has a lot of mileage on it. Remember, Jordan took damn near 2 seasons off. Don't see that happening at all.
I dont' think it is in danger. This comes up every year. I think teams are more so interested in keeping their guys healthy than breaking a regular season record.
I don't see this record being even approached in the near future. 10 losses is crazy in an 82 game season. I don't see it happening for a long time if ever.
The Lakers have the best chance.

Howard's DPOTY award is tainted, though. No way he should have won it over Lindsay Hunter or Boris Diaw.
And remember that game in like 01 or 02 when he and Kobe when at each other and both put up 51.
The Heat, Lakers and Thunder should all certainly win 60+ games, but 72 games.... that means these teams all need to play near perfect games night in and night out. They're clearly the three best teams in the NBA, but even the best teams trip up and lose games they shouldn't every once in a while.
True. And that's why I don't think this record is in jeopardy any time soon. 2 of those 3 teams are aging and will be less than perfect. The Thunder are the only squad with youth on it's side.
Just checked to make sure and Jamison was an AS in '05 and '08.
Nobody said that the lakers have a bad team but at least in my opinion, it's nearly impossible for a team to surpass that record. No team cares about the regular season anyway.

Nah, the records gonna be safe. I can't see the Lakers doing it. Now if the Heat had a legit center, I think they could come close... LBJ, Wade, Bosh, Allen, battier, haslem, cole, chalmers, + a good C... I think right now, if the Heat stay healthy, they could win about 62-65 games.
The Western Conference is too competitive for the Lakers to go atleast 73-9. Maybe if they we're in the East, but of course the same people were saying this about Miami last year and we all know how that went. These teams just don't care about regular season.
I see y'all writing that nobody cares about the regular season.
I can see players being demotivated about regualr season records simply because of what happened to the Bulls end results after back to back best records......
But with the regualr season demotivations, that could be an advantage to a team like the Lakers that are goal orientated.
Kobe most likely still sees more Jordan records to break, and 72 wins in a season is one of them.
To only loose 10 games in a whole season is incredible, but a team with a competiter like Kobe who ego strives for bragging rights, plus adding Howard-Nash to an already good team, 72 wins isn't impossible....
Not only is the league stronger than '96, the rules are much different. During the 90's, physically tough defensive teams could dominate like nothing today. The implementation of the hand check rule & zone defenses has changed the landscape of the league, & not necessarily in a good way.
LOL at the league being stronger with defense being legislated out of the game completely. How it is stronger when you have about 15 franchise level players divided up between only a few teams?
The 72-10 Bulls record will never be broken. Regardless of the kind of team each NBA team puts together. To break that record, that would require losing no more then 9 of 82 games during the regular season. Until i'm proven wrong, I say impossible.
How is the league tougher now than in the mid 90s?
