    Default Traveling to Soldier Field

So I am going to my first game this year (Week 1 vs. Colts) and I am trying to get suggestions on the best way to get into the city. I am traveling in from Iowa via Rockford. Should I stop in Elgin or an outside city and take a train in? I know traffic will be crazy.

I obviously don't have a parking pass. Any help would be great.

You will love it, I just went to my first Soldier Field game last Saturday. I know the Metra can connect you to the Red-line and that takes you down to Roosevelt, which is about a 10-15 min walk to Soldier. That is about all I know and can help with lol. I am sure others will elaborate more.
*Cutler's first throw in a playoff game is a TD. Destined for Greatness.

you can do that and then take a shuttle bus from the train station to the field, or stop off from I90(the Kennedy) by the Ohare Blue line L stop and that brings you downtown too.

I'm actually wondering the same thing for this years trek to soldier field. Usually we park in a garage a little ways out, and just can it everywhere.

Might change it up a bit.

drive in to the closest L station, if its the blue line so be it, the green line out of oak park is really easy and a shorter trip then the rosemont blue line

Thanks for the replies. Still a couple weeks away but I am getting excited. Any recommendations for food before the game or should I just get $4,000 hotdogs and $20,000 beers?

Don't base plans on this, but last year I was there for the Sunday night vikings game and they opened 2 hours before kickoff.

Hit eleven city diner just north of roosevelt on wabash before the game, it will take you about 3 minutes to walk there from the Roosevelt EL station

Take a boat and travel up the rivers to lake michigan. You'll get there faster then traffic.

Expect to get ripped off for parking, and if you bring stuff into the stadium it will be confiscated. You should park somewhere else, and take the train to the stadium.

Isn't McCormick Place only $20 or somewhere in that neighborhood to park?

Exclamation Message to all BEARS fans going to Colts @ Bears September 9th:

I am so pumped for this game, I just want a good old-fashioned beat down at Soldier Field for our Bears.

But I started this thread for two purposes:

ONE: Sit down and try not to yell too much while Jay Cutler and the offense is out on the field. It's embarassing whenver Jay has to walk up to the line of scrimmage, wave his hands to calm the crowd down, and then put his hands over the holes on the side of his helmet to try and hear the play. To add to that, our offensive line needs all of the help it can get. They shouldn't have to fight the crowd noise while they're playing in their home field.

and TWO: Please bears fans, be LOUD when our boys are on defense. Scream your lungs out, make this rookie QB have nightmares about coming back to Soldier Field. Make that Colts offensive line have false start after false start on every drive. Do it for Urlacher, for Briggs, for Tillman. Do it for OUR BEARS!

    BEAR DOWN!

I don't stare at the jumbotron like Lovie so I don't know if they put the quiet on the field offense at work thing on the screen. That alone does wonders to shut up most of the clueless fans.

Yeah, whenever I see Giants games at the New Meadowlands, I notice the offense at work sign immediately.

So ended up deciding to park at the midway station park and ride and take the 25 minute trainride to roosevelt. Worked out well since my dad will be flying into midway Saturday, so we will just stay the night near by.

    Pretty excited. BEAR DOWN

That's a much better plan than taking the Metra from my town(Elgin). They only run every 2 hours on Sundays, so you're screwed if you miss one.

    Enjoy the game!

Gino's East is my favorite but as long as you wear that Enis jersey people should be handing you free shit.

Use Priceline to name your own price for hotel at midway, you shouldn't have any trouble getting room at courtyard or equivalent for around 50-55 per night

So many great places to eat. Don't just eat pizza. Try going to Harry Carry's restaurant or elsewhere.
