Well, not really. Both guys were DFA'd but the guy the Cubs got has some good on-base skills in the minors, so maybe that can translate into something good. Might as well try since it didn't cost them much.

why the facepalm? you really cant judge epstein yet. you can project what can happen, based on his track record. He drafts well and over spends on FAs...that we know. What we dont know is how he will do with a non AL East checkbook. Id be willing to bet that the knowledgeable cub fans out there would agree with me on this. So to facepalm someone for being negative is a bit hypocritical.

I think we all pretty much know that Theo has never had to build a team almost from scratch before, at least not as the primary GM (or now, the president of baseball ops). The fact that the front office is loaded with good baseball minds is a plus, though. We'll have to wait and see, most of the changes won't materialize for a year or two anyway.

Dude, we traded Blake fucking Lalli for him, it was a minor move but moves like this aren't rare at all. We aren't trading value for crap, it was crap for crap. Alright, this isn't doing much for the future, it isn't supposed to be some form of major trade, it isn't hurting the future either. You don't get how insignificant this is.
